Here's a useful rule for all readers of this answer: DO NOT ATTEMPT AT-HOME, CHEMICAL PEELS. In this day and age where just about anything can be obtained on the internet, it is enticing to think that one can save money on a chemical peel by performing it at home. But the notion that a chemical peel is a simple and entirely safe procedure that can be performed by anyone without training at home is ill-conceived; it's like playing with fire. Chemical peels of all kinds work by wounding the skin. The stronger the acid (and in this case the use of a full-strength TCA), the greater the potential for scarring and, especially in skin of color, the more potential for the development of prolonged postinflammatory hyperpigmentation or even worse permanent hypopigmentation. In short, for anyone enticed by the supposed simplicity and cost-saving of a do-it-yourself strong chemical peel, think twice or think three times before risking going ahead. As for this case, you would be well advised to seek prompt consultation and treatment by a board certified aesthetic dermatologist to mitigate any potential long-term consequences. Good luck to you.
I don't recommend applying TCA peels yourself due to the risk of complications. I recommend following up with a cosmetic dermatologist for after care. I recommend Silagen + Bioshield to promote healing. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Plastics or dermatologist can help. We use silicone dressings, pressure tape, also pulse dye laser, and dilute steroid injections. Early treatment of scarring is vital. This is common, as most home TCA applications and phenol peels will end up with scarring. Dr Davin Lim
