At week 5 post op i don't see any improvement on armpit lipo, dr did not recommended any garment for my armpit area, was it wise to follow his advise ?i still have lots of swelling and skin looks wrinkly under my armpits, is this normal?

. Most plastic surgeons employee  compressive garments after liposuction.However, there is no objective evidence to suggest that they affect the final outcome.

Since there's no pictures provided -- I can't comment on to why your PS did not recommend a compression garment. I generally recommend compression garments to fit the surgical site. The options for Axilla (Armpit) garments are multiple. Make sure to talk to your Doctor about your concern.

I always use garments after liposuction, but some physicians think it doesnt make too much a difference, depending on their type of procedure.  You should trust your physicians judgement.  I wish you the best of luck, Dr. Emer.

And picture would be very helpful in your case. Typically with liposuctiona garment is recommended to manage swelling and the skin. Liposuction of the armpit and is an unusual surgical procedure so I cannot make a comment in regards to that.Earl Stephenson, Jr, MD, DDS,FACS

As a general rule I would say that if you trusted someone to operate on you then you should trust their advice.  Certainly if you have concerns you should voice them to your surgeon.

Call his office to ask why no garment use... I sometimes do not use a compression garment immediately following lipo surgery. Depends on many issues..
