I'm still peeling 2 weeks after microneedling. Is this normal?

Hello, I had superficial acne scars, I went for microneedling which seemed awesome at the begging my skin was peeling mildly, but after 5 days the peeling increased and went from mild to moderate and I started having dark patches of pigmentation around my mouth ( 1 shade darker) . I noticed that peeling exacerbated after walking in the sun for 20 mins. Now I am 2 weeks ++ past microneedling and my skin is still peeling. Is this normal ?!? I am really concerned !

I have never had a patient peeling 2 weeks after microneedling.  I suggest seeing an expert for a formal evaluation.  Best, Dr. Emer.

What's missing in the information you have provided is the pre and post procedure care. Have you been on retinoid products or Retin-A? I would go over all the medications and topicals with the doctor who did the microneedling for best guidance.Dr H Karamanoukian#RealSelf100 Member

Mild peeling is common for several days after a microneedling session.  You didn't comment on your skin type and what you used after the microneedling session.  For the first 24 hours after a microneedling session, we only use pure hyaluronic acid serums to avoid getting any foreign products down in the microneedle channels.  After 24 hours, one can return to normal skin care products except for Retin A and any skin exfoliators.  Darker skin tones can burnish after a session and particularly so if exposed to too much sunlight, particularly without zinc based sunscreens.
