I am getting a rhinoplasty next month. I am thinking about adding a vy plasty to make my lips permanently larger. I do not want injections, implants, or a lip lift. I am aware of the risk of scarring but do not know of any other risks. I cannot find anything on the internet on this subject.

Be very, very , very careful before having a VY lip plasty.I have personally seen many pretty severe complications from VY plasties of the lip including deformity, unanticipated lengthening of the lip, unanticipated separation of the mucosa from the muscle causing an animation deformity, scarring, and numbness.  Ask your prospective doctor to tell you candidly about the complications they have had with this procedure, and how often they have performed it.We usually reserve the VY pasty for patients with excessively gummy smiles where we need extra vertical lip lengthening.For patients who want permanent augmentation in the size of their lips, we achieve our very best results with untraumatized autologous tissue to augment the size of the lips.  I feel this technique is more natural and softer even than temporary fillers.

V-Y lip enhancements are based on the principle of rolling out the mucosa (advancing it) so that more vermilion tissue is exposed. It makes the lips fuller but not necessarily longer or truly lengthened. It can be a very successful procedure but how the mucosal Vs are done (how many and how long they are) will determine how successful the procedure is in terms of vermilion show and whether there are any other issues that can occur beyond the result and the swelling.
