How long before rhinoplasty surgery do I need to stop taking benadryl?

I am having a rhinoplasty/turbinectomy/septoplasty in about 10 days, on the 25th of this month. I have pretty sever seasonal allergies. I have switched from Alegra-D 12 hour to regular Allegra, and I also take a benadryl at night, before bed. How many days before my procedure should I stop taking the benadryl at night, or is it ok to keep taking it up until the day before surgery?

Hello!  Thank you for your question!   This answer will vary among surgeons. Medication questions should always be addressed with your surgeon.  I typically allow antihistamines to be taken up until your surgical procedure. Some surgeons prefer to stop this medication approximately 1 week prior in order to minimize the effects on the nasal procedure.  Best wishes!

I can think of no reason why you would need to stop taking Benadryl before a rhinoplasty.  However, you should check with your surgeon if there is any doubt.
