Thank you for your inquiry! It seems that you are a good candidatefor a conservative rhinoplasty addressing the over-projection of your nose as mentioned above. The surgery will improve the way your nose looks to complement yourfacial features in a natural fashion. However, without a physicalexamination it is not possible to provide you with specific details. I highlyrecommend that you schedule a consultation with a well-experienced surgeon. It is important to mention that thefinest cosmetic results in any particular case are based on a variety offactors, including: the unique anatomy of the patient, realistic expectations,a well-informed and detailed discussion with your plastic surgeon concerningthe best options for you especially covering a deep understanding of the prosand cons of any given choice you will adopt. Please keep in mind that following theadvice from a surgeon online who offers to tell you what to do without aphysical examination covering the nature and the status of the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussingthe pros and cons of each operative solution would not be in your bestinterest. With that in mind, it is the safest and for your best interest tofind a plastic surgeon with solid experience and certified by the AmericanBoard of Plastic Surgery who is ideally a member of the American Society ofPlastic Surgeons that you will trust and be comfortable with. You shoulddiscuss your concerns with that surgeon in person.Good luck!!!Ali Sajjadian, MD FACS
Dear xtina334,You can fix this issue with experience rhinoplasty techniquesWe can shorten the septum, or move the tip up to shorten the noseDr John Rhee is a great rhinoplasty surgeon in Milwaukee, a consultation with him would be very worthwhileBest,Nima Shemirani
For better opinions you will need to (best) be in front of a surgeon or for remote advice supply a closer side and front view. Most of the is cartledge rearranging with limited removal. You are really desiring rotation upward to lift the tip. At present from the front, only the top of your nose is visible and looking at other appearance one can see the columella and base of the nose. good luck
A rhinoplasty can fix your long nose, but the changes can sometimes make the rest of the nose not have harmony with these changes. That is one of the reasons I like to perform computer generated imaging on all of my rhinoplasty clients. It allows me to make changes to YOUR nose on YOUR face, and allows both of us to make a customized plan that will give you the result you desire. The goal of a rhinoplasty is to create a nose that has harmony with the rest of the face, and visually speaking, "disappears", so the other beautiful features of your face can be appreciated.Andrew CampbellFacial Plastic Surgeon
Both of those elements can be improved with a closed rhinoplasty with no visible scars and reduced downtime.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
The areas that you described and would likeimproved can be addressed with a subtle natural appearing rhinoplasty performedby an expert artistic plastic surgeon with extensive rhinoplasty experience. Keep in mind, that following the advicefrom a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to dobased on limited 2 dimensional photos without examining you, physically feelingthe tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, anddiscussing the pros and cons of the proposed operative procedure with you may not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find aplastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally amember of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or facialplastic surgeon (otolaryngologist) that you trust and are comfortable with. Youshould discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person.Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California
A columellar plasty can be performed as a stand-alone procedure, or as part of the entire rhinoplasty done together. A columellar-sty is performed for excess columellar show. To perform a columellar plasty, skin and cartilage is trimmed back on both sides of the columella on the internal portion of the nose. For many examples, please see the link below
Thank you for the photo and clearly you will dramatically improve the appearance of your face with a rhinoplasty. I also thoroughly agree with Dr Campbell's use of digital imaging to help inform what can And what cannot be accomplished with surgeryDr Corbin
You appear to have a moderately overprojected, or long nose, and some ptosis or drooping of the tip, as the primary concerns. This can be addressed with a meticulous reduction rhinoplasty, which incorporates other beneficial reshaping techniques that might be beneficial. A consultation with an experienced facial plastic surgeon, along with computer imaging is a good start to helping you achieve your goals. Good luck!
Thank you for your question! It is understandable that you are a concerned with what you feel to be a lack of "improvement from your old nose". Nonetheless, at 6 weeks post surgery swelling is not uncommon and every patient is a little different than the other hence the inability to provide...
I would suggest that you ask your plastic surgeon to be sure, but I'm comfortable allowing patients who are long-term users of Retin-A (meaning over 6 months on a regular basis) to continue doing so. They can usually start again 2-3 weeks post-surgery depending on what was done...
Hello,It usually takes 1-3 years for the swelling to fully go down after a rhinoplasty. The tip takes the longest time to heal and mold to the new framework because it is the thickest skin of the nose. The skin over the profile is thinner than the skin over the tip. If you have seen your before...
