Areola Revision (revise the whole thing or just a partial crescent revision)?

Question

I had an explant done 6 years ago. I'm looking at getting the lift redone. What do you recommend for my areolas? Do a brand new entire circle or just round out the upper part? (Like many, I am concerned with the new scarring. Afraid to redo the vertical scar since this one healed so well...)

Hi,It is absolutely possible to perform a breast lift revision for you, and during the procedure, an areola reduction can be done as well. The scarring will likely heal similarly to how it did after your previous surgery, and we will take care to minimize any new scars

Dear 40yearoldtuneup,
my preferred lift is a lollipop lift when a periareolar won't do (ie greater than 2cm lift required). The lollipop technique was created by a Canadian plastic surgeon named Elizabeth Hall-Findley and treats the breast as a three dimensional structure instead of two dimensions (anchor - lift). Most importantly it does not require the horizontal component scars that the anchor-lift requires and breasts appear much more natural, lifted, and less boxy. Lastly, the lift lasts longer because the lollipop doesn't rely on the skin to hold the breast up, its actually breast tissue thats being brought together to support the breast and hence improves longevity.

The surest way to get permanent reduction in areolar diameter is by tightening the entire breast skin flaps, which means recreating the vertical scar again. This will have the added benefit of improving mound shape too.

You need to do the entire lift again to get a better shape of your breasts. Just revising the areolae will do little for your breasts.

Dear 40yearold,
The answer depends on your goal.  Is it to reduce your areolae, or to reshape your breasts?  If the latter, then you need a full lollilop, or anchor lift.  If the former, you need a full circumareolar scar.  A crescent doesn't seem to be indicated at all.  Good luck!
