I am getting a tummy tuck and have seen others add hip roll lipo to their procedures. What is the benefit of adding this?
Answer: Tummy Tuck with or without Flank Liposuction I usually recommend liposuction of the flank area (hip roll or love handles) at the same time as an abdominoplasty. In order to achieve a harmonious result after a tummy tuck, most patients would benefit from contouring the continuation between the abdomen and the back -- the flanks. Whereas some patients do not need this because they are so thin, this represents less than 10% of tummy tuck candidates in my experience. When you look at your post tummy tuck results, you want a flat abdomen with smooth flanks - not bulging or fullness in these areas; liposuction helps to achieve that result.

Answer: What is the hip roll The term hip is used differently by different people. It is not a good term in my opinion. I suggest reviewing this with your provider to see what their interpretation is of what’s included in the hip roll.
