I had a areolar lift a month ago .. One breast looks fine around the areola ,but the other one looks red around the incision ...is that normal ?
Answer: Red scars one month after surgery One month after surgery there is still alot of swelling , and the scars are still undergoing changes. The scar in the photo does not look abnormal for this time period. The red or pink color can take months or even a year to fade completely. Ask your surgeon for instuctions on scar care to aide in there improvement.

Answer: Post Op Scar Management Hi ronaldofilho, For scars, I close all of my incisions in 5 layers and do not use absorbable sutures because they cause inflammation and worse scarring. I tape all of my incisions in the office visits once a week for six weeks after surgery to improve the appearance. After taping, I start my patients on a scar gel therapy for 3 months that they have to put on their incisions twice daily. I understand you are concerned with the appearance of your scars. As your scars heal, it should flatten out and the redness will fade. Always follow your surgeon's post operative care instructions when it comes to scar management to avoid any complications like infection and for faster healing and recovery. If you are concerned, you should visit your plastic surgeon for assessment. and to discuss your concerns, as different surgeons have different approaches in scar management. Answer: One Month Post Areola Life - Does This Scar Look Normal? The scar that is present around your circumareolar lift is red because the scar is still healing. The engines that drive the wound healing are capillaries that carry oxygenated red blood cells to the injured area. These capillaries show up on the skin as red and/or pink.As the wound gets stronger, fewer and fewer capillaries are needed, and therefore the pinkness you see around your areola is indicative of a wound that is healing well. Give it around two more months, and the pinkness will be gone. In my practice, we tattoo around the edge of the healed breast lift areola matching the areola pigment, and therefore obliterating the visibility of any scars.
