Answer: Exercise After BBL I do not recommend vigorous or strenuous exercise for six weeks after a BBL. Squats and lunges after a Brazilian buttlift will only increase muscle bulk and definition, which is probably a good thing in most women looking to achieve a more projected, lifted buttock. However, just make sure that the body fat percentage is held in check or you will lose some of the fat.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Exercise after BBL? Thank you for your questions. With Brazilian butt lift we transfer fat from one area of the body to the other. These fat cells are transferred in microinjections throughout multiple planes in the buttock tissue so that they can gain new blood supply and live in their new home, providing increased volume and shape to the buttocks. The fat that survives is there permanently. Around 70% of fat that is grafted is typically expected to survive long term. Exercise will only help you improve the appearence of the brazilian butt lift. Just make sure you start wroking out no less than 6 weeks after your surgery to give your body enough time to heal completely.

Answer: Exercise after a BBL I asked my patients to minimize physical activity for the first 2 to 3 weeks after which they can engage in as much physical activity if they want to. I don't believe weight loss after a BBL causes a dramatic loss of the results. While the grafted fat in the buttocks may shrink with weight loss so does the rest of the body. The way I like to describe it as my patience is that liposuction it with or without fat transfer with permanently change your fat distribution. If you gain weight or lose weight you will still have your new fat distribution just a larger or smaller version of it. You cannot decrease fat in one area by exercising that area. Exercise has no impact on fat only on muscle. Best, Mats Hagstrom M.D.
