I had Halo to address melasma and sun spots 2 weeks ago. Several months ago I had 3 BBL treatments. The texture of my skin was almost perfect. However now my skin is rough texture and doesn't feel very smooth. Also, my skin is extremely dry. Is this normal? Should I have another round of BBL?
Answer: Rough texture 2 weeks post Halo. Is this normal? It is normal to have a sandpaper-like texture to the skin 2 weeks after Halo. You will see changes in your skin up to 3-6 months. Follow up with your provider regularly to discuss any questions or concerns that you may have. They may want to start incorporating advanced medical skin care products with a licensed esthetician. Hope this helps.

Answer: Dryness after the Halo Halo is a more aggressive treatment than BBL. It is common for your skin to go through this dry phase as it's still recovering. Please follow up with your laser provider to see what skincare products they suggest.

Answer: Moisturize and skin care. Thank you for your question. Although not common, I’ve had several patients question dry skin at 2 weeks post halo, sometimes more. My advice in this scenario is to look carefully at your skin care kit. Make sure you are using a good thick moisturizer and no products like retinol, glycolic acid, sal acid etc which are irritating to the skin. You may have been asked to put on hydroquinone due to your melasma, this can be an irritant as well. If you can avoid makeup, do so. If you stick to this for a few weeks, your skin will heal and you will see the benefits of halo. I’d avoid doing more laser treatments to your skin until everything is back to normal. Hope this helps.

Answer: Healing after Halo Yes this is completely normal. Keep your skin protected with moisturizer and sun screen during the first month after Halo. After a month your texture will be improved. Bbl will not accelerate this but it is a good way of maintaining the effect so you may want to plan to do 3-4 BBL/ year ideally.

Answer: Non ablative delayed reaction with HALO `laser Commonly seen and due to the non-ablative and deeper wavelength of the laser. This component of HALO goes much deeper than the visible grids from the Erbium laser. We all have our own post operative instruction- mine is to gently exfoliate with a cotton cloth or even a handkerchief. Aqueous cream applied onto a warm water soaked gauze is another option. Gentle pressure with a Clarisonic can also help. Like I reinforced, very commonly seen, and predictable in the onset and offset DEPENDING on the settings of the laser. Dr Davin S. Lim . Brisbane.
