Will I look thinner 1 month post-op than I did before I recieved liposuction?

Hello, I have a Bachelorette party to attend 1 month after my surgery and a wedding to attend 2 months after surgery. Will I look thinner than I did before my surgery for these two events? (liposuction on arms, thighs, abdomen, flanks, back, neck, as well as breast lift + implants)

At 1 week you look a little better but at 1 month you should see a noticeable improvement and it keeps improving up to 6 months.

You may still have swelling, which can last 3-6 months after your procedure. I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. Hello 'Sweetfree', thanks for your question.  Yes, the goal of liposuction is to remove excess fat in order to achieve a more toned, thinner look.  However, it is a surgery that will require some recovery time, and if you really wanted to perform liposuction in all those areas including a breast augmentation with lift, then one month may not be enough time for all the postop swelling and bruising to fully go away.  You should also have a full evaluation by a board-certified plastic surgeon to make sure that you are a good candidate for these procedures, or if you will require something else to achieve your goals.  It may be best to stage these procedures in order to avoid a situation where you are still healing while attending these wedding events.  If you are interested in further discussing your options, as well as best timing for staging your procedures (or not), please give my office a call for a free consultation.  Good luck!-Dr.Go

Most patients do notice a considerable difference within the first 3-4 weeks after surgery. There will definitely still be some level of swelling present and this is dependent on your body's own healing, your garment, and your daily diet/activity level. Discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon who can give you advice on ways to speed up and optimize the recovery process. Post op swelling can last anywhere from 3-6 months so it is really impossible to say. You are planning on a lot of procedures which can also increase your swelling. Speak with your surgeon since he or she knows your case intimately. Best of luck --

Even liposculpture results in trauma to tissues and causes swelling. In my experience, about 50% of swelling goes away within first month and remaining slowly goes away over many months. If I do revisions, and they average about 5% of my patients, I usually only do them at least a year after the initial surgery.

In my practice I find patients look noticeably thinner four weeks after liposuction surgery than they did before the procedure.  Improvement is noticed almost immediately in most cases.  You are having extensive surgery including a breast lift and a longer anesthesia so your recovery may be somewhat slowed.  I always recommend that my patients avoid salty foods and over exertion during the healing period to speed recovery.  Compressive garments are also of some benefit.  Good luck to you and enjoy your results.
