Liposuction is a contouring tool and not a means to weight loss. It is used for shaping problem areas which have been resistant to diet and exercise. Even when approaching the high volume limits for the procedure a patient should not expect to lose much more than 11 lbs.It is difficult to make a prediction regarding losing inches around the waist. That being said, 5 inches is a fairly lofty goal to achieve through liposuction alone (which only addresses subcutaneous fat and does nothing for excess skin, muscle laxity or intra-abdominal fat).I often recommend that patients focus on a shape rather than a sterile number like a volume or a measurement, as these goals are very difficult to achieve and can often lead to disappointment. As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).
Thank you for sharing your question. Unfortunately without a full series of photographs or an in-persone examination it is difficult to offer definite advice. If the majority of your excess adipose tissue is centrally located you may be able to have this degree of reduction but your ASPS board certified plastic surgeon will be able to offer you better information. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your question. Without photos, it is very difficult to provide you with a good solid answer to your inquiry. The potential reduction in inches from liposuction of your waist would definitely be determined by how large or small you are to begin with pre-operatively. Please be certain to schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon when you are ready to move forward.
Yes it is possible. It depends on how much fat you have and what is more contributing to your increased waistline, if it’s the bony projection, subcutaneous fat or Intraperitoneal fat. If it is the subcutaneous fat, then you can lose inches with liposuction.
It is impossible to say. 5" is a pretty extreme goal. My best advice would be for you to schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to be assessed in person. He or she should be able to give you a more accurate response.
It's too soon to tell what your final results may be. You have swelling, which can last 3-6 months after your procedure. I do recommend customized compression for patients after liposuction. I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with compression to help decrease swe...
There is no connection between liposuction and exercise tolerance. The latter is about your cardiovascular health and lung capacity. Having said that, I don't think it would be a smart idea to have liposuction while on blood thinners, but speak with your hematologist. Best of luck --
Thank you for your question. The maximum volume of liposuctioned fat which may be removed in the US in an outpatient setting is 5000 cc's - or 5 liters. Any higher volume than that would result in a transfer to (or have to be performed in) an inpatient hospital facility or setting. The same ...
