Late 2015 I had subglandular placement silicone breast implants. Went from A32 cup to C36. I want to remove them without replacement. I have benign lumps in both breasts. Which i check via ultrasound regularly. Doctor suggested to remove only the implants and do capsule scoring. No lift and No drains! Is this normal? Is this a good option when breast tissues are very thin and damaged by compression? Should I go with this option?
Answer: Implant removal Dear AseelSalam, as long as your capsules are thin and you don't have capsular contracture you can remove only implants. And most plastic surgeons don't use drains after implant removal. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Drains The use of drains varies by surgeon and patient cirumstance. If you have concerns about your surgical plan I encourage you to discuss them with your surgeon. If you still are not comfortable, then meet with another board certified plastic surgeon for a second opinion. It is important that you feel comfortable and confident in both your surgeon and your plan before you proceed.

Answer: Removal For most of my women, I do not use drains when removing implants. I do place them in tight compression bras to help minimize the risk of excess fluid and for comfort. Usage of drains is dependent upon the surgeon's preference and experience. If you have concerns, please discuss them with your surgeon. I'm sure if you want drains, he/she will add them.

Answer: Is it normal not to use drains after breast implants removal and capsule scoring Thank you for sharing your question. In most cases of an implant removal, regardless of capsule scoring, you will not need drains. HOpe this helps.

Answer: Explant and Bellesoma Lift If you have the implants removed and the capsule remains behind then there is no benefit to scoring it. Also, implant removal only is usually unsatisfactory because of the hanging skin, empty appearance and will require a lift. The technique I recommend is explantation and lift using The Bellesoma Method. The implants are removed, your breast tissue is reshaped creating upper pole fullness, elevated higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. Vertical scars are avoided, nipple sensation (in 95%) and the ability to breast feed are maintained, if not injured during your previous surgery. Later, fat transfers can be performed if additional volume is desired. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.
