Tooth extraction and bone grafting done 7 days ago. Pain started day 2 and is progressively worsening. It is intolerable past couple days despite advil, tylenol and pain pills. I have been on antibiotics, peridex rinses and trying salt water rinses. The salt water rinses bother it worse. Please help me to understand what could be going on. I don't think anybody is believing me on how bad this pain is.

It sounds like the membrane used is the kind that does not resorb and at some point will be removed. This means the tissues on top won't heal over it and will be loose. Even when the membrane is removed, it takes time for the tissues to join up/heal. You should be fine and it should heal up soon.
Your graft appears infected. Call the surgeon who placed it immediately. He/she will probably want to clean the area out, place you on an antibiotic, let it heal and then replace the graft at a later date.
Hi:It is very difficult to predict what will exactly happen with bone graft fragments. However, its best to have your dentist evaluate the area.Best,Dr. Maddahi
