Should I be concerned about my bone graft and how it’s healing? (Photo)

I had a bone graft this past Monday. I’m taking antibiotics 3 times a day and doing a warm salt rinse twice a day. I’m concerned at the look of my gums and how far down it is, maybe one of my stitches is loose? Also, a little white has come out. My surgeon isn’t open until Monday so I was hoping to get some input. Thank you for any information or insight.

Hi:It is very difficult to predict what will exactly happen with bone graft fragments.  However, its best to have your dentist evaluate the area.Best,Dr. Maddahi

Hi:Normally sometimes there is more swelling and bruising on the third day post op.  It’s best to have your dentist reevaluate the area to make sure all is ok.Best,Dr. Maddahi.

Hello! If it's just a week after your graft, I don't see a reason to be too concerned about. From what you're describing  it sounds like it could be some of the grafting material. You can always go into your dentist and have them take a look too. Good luck!

Hello! There could be two reasons the stitch fell out, either you have healed rapidly and it's fallen out on its own or the stitch has come undone. To be on the safe side, I would call your dentist and have them examine the area.  Good luck!

Hello! A 'hole' feeling is normal since you're used to there being an implant/tooth there. The graft needs time to integrate with your bone and as it does it will fill in. It's possible that even after that, you may still feel like there's a hole remaining or a space or...
