Should I be concerned about my bone graft and how it’s healing? (Photo)

Hi Nfalter,Without doing a physical examination and taking x-rays it is difficult to determine if everything is healing properly. With that said, swelling and discomfort are normal and can take some time to subside depending on your body. The white pieces you saw could either be pieces of the bone graft which sometimes come out a bit or food that was stuck in the area. I would  set up an exam with your doctor to address your concerns. Good luck!

Hi:It is unfortunatley hard to tell if everything is healing well unless there is a clinical exam.  Your best bet is to have your dentist evaluate the area.  Best,Dr. Maddahi

Your graft appears infected. Call the surgeon who placed it immediately. He/she will probably want to clean the area out, place you on an antibiotic, let it heal and then replace the graft at a later date.
