Hi! I would to get some thoughts on taking a pain medicine right before a sculpsure treatment. I had my first treatment a week ago on my upper arms and it was extremely painful. I'd say it was a 7/8 pain level comparing it to when I didn't take the pain medicine after a csection. I also want to add I have a stretch marks on the upper arms. I go for my next treatment in 5 weeks and I'm very nervous. I didn't have any down time after my treatment. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
Answer: Pain During ScupSure Treatment. Should I Take a Pain Pill Before the Procedure In general I would say no, since patient feedback is part of determining the settings for the treatment and a pain pill might interfere with you giving that feedback. However, in your case, since you had no adverse effects from the treatment, you probably would benefit from a mild pain pill, like ibuprofen or extra-strength tylenol beforehand. Ibuprofen is OK because the effect is of short duration, and the thermal effect of the laser on your fat cells is not going to be affected. Don't keep taking it, however; use tylenol for post-procedure discomfort. Either med would be unlikely to dull the treatment pain entirely. Another thing you should do is let your doctor know about your pain with the first treatment, and perhaps lower the setting, to a less uncomfortable level, but still effective level. You should consult with your doctor before taking any pain medication, as these comments are general and meant to be educational and are not meant to be specific advice for you.

Answer: SculpSure Thank you for your question. It may be helpful to have downtime between treatment. Please discuss medicine and other discomfort reducing techniques with your board certified facial plastic surgeon because it is important that you and your medical team are on the same page with treatment and recovery. Best wishes,

Answer: Pain medication during SculpSure treatment The arms are sensitive during SculpSure treatment. It would be fine to take regular Tylenol before the procedure. You should avoid Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other anti inflammatory medications, as well as aspirin. Also, if the provider did not stay in the room with you during treatment, you should ask that someone stay with you. Intermittent cooling can be provided a few times during the treatment to help reduce the discomfort.

Answer: Pain medication before SculpSure It is not recommended to take any pain medication before a SculpSure treatment. If pain medication were taken, it is possible that the sensation would be dulled and the skin could burn. During the treatment, the energy level can be adjusted and the treatment should be able to be done without pain. I would say there should be some mild discomfort, but it should not be painful. I would discuss this with the physician who treated you. It is possible the energy level for you could be decreased so that the treatment is not painful.

Answer: Pain medication for Sculpsure For any patient who are sensitive to treatment, I can prescribe a pain medication to be taken about fifteen minutes beforehand. SculpSure treatments take only 25 minutes and can treat up to 4 body areas in a single session. You may resume all of your normal daily activities immediately after your treatment since there is no surgery or recovery with SculpSure. Most people experience no pain with SculpSure. If you do feel any discomfort then adjustments are made to make the treatment comfortable.
