Sculpsure is a noninvasive 1060nm diode laser treatment that removes up to 25% of stubborn fat in the treated area in 25 minutes. It is FDA approved for the abdomen and flanks. It is safe if you get pregnant in the future. The body contouring effects are seen in as quick as six weeks with final results at 12 weeks. The results are permanent as long as you maintain your weight and health. The laser targets and destroys the fat cells only which are then naturally removed from the body. Since the laser does not affect the skin or muscle it can be used on all skin colors and there has been no reported incidents of burns when treated by a properly trained physician. It is protective since it alternates heating and cooling. It has four applicators that can be customized to treat the areas of stubborn fat. If a second treatment is needed we wait at least six weeks and usually closer to 12. If you notice lumps after (which I've never seen) I would recommend massage. You should also alert your surgeon. No compression garment required. There is no downtime and you can resume your normal activities right after the treatment. There may be some soreness in the area for a few days for which you can take ibuprofen or tylenol. A cold compress can also be used. Sculpsure is not used for skin tightening however some of our patients have seen this. If more skin tightening is needed we have combined this with thermi or Ulthera for a complete treatment. Sculpsure is recommended for stubborn areas of fat that are not being lost by diet and exercise. It is not a weight loss treatment Since I have both a coolsculpting and sculpsure I am working on protocols of utilizing both of these depending upon what areas need to be treated and the response to the treatment. I have used sculpsure on other areas other than the abdomen with very good results. I also use a Vectra 3D imaging system to try and show people what their treatment areas could look like. Since Sculpsure outcomes can be based on technique and experience, please see a board certified plastic surgeon that specializes body contouring to see if Sculpsure or other treatments are available to meet your goals. In the FDA studies, 74% of patients had some post-treatment pain described as mild in three out of four, none severe. Average duration was 7 days, max 28 days.Bruising occurred in 6%, average duration 12 days, max 18 days.So your experience is within the normal range.
Thank you for your question. That is the brilliance of SculpSure - there is absolutely no downtime associated with the procedure although patients may feel a little tenderness in the treated areas for a few days. I suggest that you discuss your recovery results and expectations with your board certified facial plastic surgeon.Best wishes,
If you didn't feel any soreness after the procedure, you are one of the few who did not experience as much post procedure soreness. I would not be concerned at this point.
Most people are not bruised after SculpSure. Mild soreness is common, but it does not always occur. I would not be concerned that the procedure did not work just because you did not feel sore. I'm sure that your doctor told you that it takes 6-12 weeks to see the results.
sculpsure is a laser that has a wave length that is specified for fat cells ... the laser causes the fat cells temperstire to rise between 42-47 * C resulting is lipolysis which is the destruction of fat cells .. when this happens the heat will radiate to the tissues around resulting in a sensation that can be described in many different ways but it is generally referred to as a warm or hot feeling. .. some patients feel things differently but I would wait till I look at the outcome at 12 weeks to make an assessment as to whether there was a response or not rather than based on the way the treatment felt
Feeling sore after the treatment doesn't mean the treatment is working better or worse than not feeling this soreness. These are not indications of the effectiveness of the treatment. Ideally, you don't have these "side-effects". This is why SculpSure offers a better patient experience, without sacrificing efficacy, as compared to other non-invasive fat reduction procedures.
Thank you for your questions. Unlike CoolSculpt, it is not common to have bruising resulting from SculpSure. Similarly most do not have any pain after the procedure. Occasionally, patients note some soreness similar to having had a hard workout. Others note soreness to touch as if the you had a hard bump a corner. Finally, others note small tender nodules / bumps under the skin. These bumps are called panniculitis (inflammation secondary to fat cell death). Wait 12 weeks for your maximum results. Don't worry. The fact that you are not sore after treatment does not mean that the treatment isn't working. I would simply count yourself lucky.
You do not need to feel bruised or sore for the Sculpsure process to be effective. Often patients have a more intense experience during and after the first treatment and then feel less discomfort during and after subsequent treatments. This does not impact the effectiveness of the treatment. The actual laser procedure itself does not cause visible bruising, although you may have some bruising from the tightness of the belts and frames themselves, but this is strictly a physical pressure effect and not related to the laser procedure.
This is a common question. No risk of blood clots.Q: Is it normal to have nodules at 7 weeks post SculpSure? Also, still have bruises where applicators were placed.A: What to Do About Nodules at 7 Weeks and Bruising. In the FDA studies, 23 % of patients had nodules after treatment. Average...
If there is bowel right under the hernia, the energy could theoretically injure the bowel. Most umbilical hernias have fat in between the skin and the bowel, but you would not want to expose whatever is under the skin of the umbilical hernia to the laser energy just to be safe. Also there is no...
