What are the symptoms of damage to the infraorbital nerve?

I had .5 cc of Perlane in each cheek almost 3 weeks ago. That night the right side of my face was very painful. I returned to the doctor after 2 weeks, board cert. dermatologist, and he said no infection and he possibly hit a blood vessel and to let it heal. I still have some tingling, occasional shooting pain in my jaw, and a sore spot under my right cheek bone. NSAIDS not helping. Could this be nerve damage? Thank you so much. I don't know where to turn to at this point.

This may have been a vascular compromise situation and can take 6-12 months to heal.  If you have nerve pain starting lyrica or neurontin or the like would be acceptable.  I suggest speaking to your physician and if they are not that savvy with complications, seeing a filler expert.  In the future, cannula injections limit any complications.  Best, Dr. Emer.

This does appear to be an injury to the infraorbital nerve. This will gradually get better in most cases. Some people will be bothered for a prolonged time, but most will get better in a couple months. There really is nothing to do to expedite the improvement. Cannulas will be a better option in the future for fillers in this area.
