Thigh lift with groin scars - what are the risks with recovery?

What are the chances of lymphadema when having a thigh lift with scars only in the groin? How difficult is the recovery. What are the chances of the incisions opening? I really want this procedure but i am terrified

Inner thigh lift is neither an easy surgery nor an easy recovery.  Having performed hundreds of these procedures, I can tell you that your surgery is not only dependent on your surgeon but also on following instructions that you must follow for optimal healing.  Risk of this procedure are minor opening (not a big problem), labial spreading and scar migration.  The latter 2 are more common and are dependent on the technique of the inner thigh lift that is being performed.  In our practice, we also perform groin crease reconstruction with the inner thigh lift for optimal results. The odds of lymphedema are fairly low as long as your surgeon doesn't get into the lymph node basins, which most modern surgeons dont. The recovery is different for everyone depending on the technique and patient specific factors like weight and overall health. Usually it isnt terrible. Odds of incision openings depending on the type of thigh lift and your BMI mostly, with some other factors like smoking or diabetes playing a lesser role. 
Dont be scared, it's a good surgery and lots of people have great results from it. Just go to someone who does them all the time, they can be tricky.

It is very difficult to find good candidate for groin only thigh lift based on our experience; at least a short vertical scar is necessary for stable result. Problems with  wound dehiscence and secondary healing are frequent in perineal area as well as stretching of the scar and pull on labia. This is a procedure that should be discussed in details with your surgeon. I hope this helps. Good luck.
