Hello!Pending further examination and palpating the area, I am inclined to suggest that you consider shaving down the front edge of the chin bone. This can be performed with an inconspicuous incision under the chin as an out patient.*Opinions stated here are only opinions. They are not based on a clinical examination which is recommended. Without an exam your question cannot be answered. You will need to see an Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon to see if othognathic surgery, genioplasty or using an implant is best for your specific case. It should be noted that patients with severely weak jaws or abnormally functioning jaws may be better treated with other facial surgery (orthognathic surgery), although a chin augmentation may be an option at a later time. These patients should seek the advice of a plastic surgeon to determine which course is right for them. It is actually the reverse. A receded or short chin or lower jaw is the caused of a mentalis strain. You ideally should have a sliding genioplasty for correction.
