I have a witch chin when I smile and it has always bothered me. I'm wondering which procedure would help my circumstance the most.
Answer: Treatment Option Hello! Pending further examination and palpating the area, I am inclined to suggest that you consider shaving down the front edge of the chin bone. This can be performed with an inconspicuous incision under the chin as an out patient. *Opinions stated here are only opinions. They are not based on a clinical examination which is recommended. Answer: The right procedure for you ? Without an exam your question cannot be answered. You will need to see an Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon to see if othognathic surgery, genioplasty or using an implant is best for your specific case. It should be noted that patients with severely weak jaws or abnormally functioning jaws may be better treated with other facial surgery (orthognathic surgery), although a chin augmentation may be an option at a later time. These patients should seek the advice of a plastic surgeon to determine which course is right for them. Here is some information to help you make this decision: Candidates for Chin Augmentation - Patients whose chin profiles are weak but have normally functioning jaws are candidates for Chin Augmentation. Many of these candidates have used injectable fillers in the past to strengthen the protrusion of their chins, but are looking for a permanent solution. If you are one of these patients, then you are a likely candidate for chin augmentation #weakchin #chinimplant

Answer: Reduction genioplasty I would recommend a reduction genioplasty with removal of a 5-7 mm segment of bone. A small micro-plate and screws are used to re-secure the chin bone. The procedure can be accomplish in the office with intravenous sedation and there can be swelling for one week. Good luck

Answer: What procedure would best correct my witch's chin? The adequacy of chin projection should take into account several variables including sex, the effect of occlusion on lower lip position, the thickness of the chin pad, and the depth of the labiomental fold. When these variables are not considered, implant augmentation may result in a chin that is unnatural and too large, particularly in a woman.
