After having hyaluronidase to remove a lump/hardening of Juvederm, how long must I wait before refilling the same area?

 Thank you for your question. I would wait until all the swelling goes down and the full effects of the Hyaluronidase takes effect. A week is probably a good estimate. I would also make sure that you go to an experienced injector.

My suggestion is to wait 2-4 weeks until all the swelling and lumps have subsided.  If they are not gone to get another hyaluronidase injection.  After the swelling is gone, cannula injections can be used to limit complications and decrease the risk of irritation.  Best, Dr. Emer.

In most instances, I see improvements before the patient leaves the door. Wait a bit for the hyaluronidase to absorb and get refilled about a week later. Sometimes, particularly with Juvederm and Voluma, a 2nd treatment with hyaluronidase is needed.

Sometimes a repeat injection is needed to dissolve the filler and sometimes the
filler doesn’t completely disolve right away. Once the hyaluronidase is
injected, it creates swelling which needs time to resolve as well. Don't be in
a rush to re-inject and make sure you have an experienced injector. These are
advanced techniques so be sure to get an experienced cosmetic dermatologist
consultation for recommendations and treatment options.

I usually advise patients to wait at least three days before refilling the area. Usually I use very small amounts to fine tine fillers. You might consider waiting longer if you require a large amount of hyaluronidase to remove a large collection of filler.
