Is there an advantage to wearing the chin strap for 4-6 weeks after neck lift surgery? I'm 17 days post-op and have been advised to wear this chin strap for 4-6 weeks. I'm very diligent about wearing it day and night but it does hurt, my ears mostly. I'm constantly putting padding around the ears to relieve the pressure points. I've noticed online that most doctors advise 7 days. If wearing this for another 2-4 weeks will give me a better result then I will keep wearing it. Please advise.

Thank you for your question. Since the two different procedures should not affect each other, it would be your preference as to which to do first. If you do the dental work first, I recommend waiting for enough time for proper healing and assurance of lack of infection. I hope this helps!
Thank you for your question. It would be ununsal to develop tightness 9 months after the procedure; usually it is tight right after and then improves (ie- loosens) with time. You should see an ENT physician who may want to perform a laryngoscopy. I hope this helps!
