Since my double jaw surgery to fix a growth deformity a year and a half ago my nasal base has widened and I dislike the width of my nostrils. It becomes particularly prominent when I smile, but the flaring is also visible at rest. I don't have very large nostrils though. Would an alarplasty be possible on my nose to fix the nasal flare?

It is almost impossible to achieve alar or nostril symmetry. The risk for making it worst is always there.I would not recommend an alarplasty

In general, the chances of infection from rhinoplasty with or without alar base reduction of very small given the great blood supply to the face. Alar base/sill reductions are very safe in experienced hands. The primary concern would be the obvious appearance of a scar which is why I recommend...
