Do these open wounds around my areola look normal? Do they look infected?

Spitting sutures can happen and usually are more a nuisance than anything more.  They can sometimes cause the surrounding skin to become irritated but it usually doesnt lead to an infection.  They may have put you on Keflex as a precautionary step.I would recommend asking when your doctor would be in next time and set up an appointment to see him.Hope that helps.

Thank you for your question. I would like to help you but I do not see any photos posted. Suture spitting is not unusual and does not usually affect your end result, and does not normally require any antibiotics. I hope this helps.

as you should be seen when worrying about your outcome.  So schedule an appointment when you surgeon will be in the office guaranteed so you can have your questions answered and provided reassurances  you need.  Spitting sutures can surely create some concern but it should not be resulting in wounds coming apart and draining a lot.  BTW, there were no photos associated with this post.

I am unable to see the photos.  Spitting sutures are not unusual.  Typically this can be treated with removal of the suture in question and antibiotic ointment. Best of luck!

Hello and thank you for your question and photos.I would recommend you to call your doctor's office and make an appointment for a consultation. Expelling sutures are normal after these kind of procedures. I would prescribe you more Keflex as a precaution. It is important you call your surgeon and follow his instructions.

Unfortunately, I did not receive any photos with your submission. So I will speak in generalities. Sutures will "spit" if they become infected or if an individual is hypersensitive to the suture material utilized. You may wish to record the type of the suture employed so it is not used on you! You have already been on two rounds of antibiotics. I am assuming that your wound isn't sealed one month after your procedure, and you are concerned. You require a regimen of local wound care and perhaps suture extractions to eliminate the problem.  If you have not been evaluated yet by your physician, another physician in his practice, or a nurse practitioner, it is time to insist upon evaluation and express your concern and frustration to the receptionist who may be able to reschedule your appointment  to a time when the doctor is in.  Most likely, an evaluation will calm your fears and eliminate your concerns.
