I'm a college baseball player and I just had gynecomastia surgery and I'm wondering how many weeks I should wait until returning to throwing and would should I do after throwing to prevent swelling.

Answer: Recovery from gynecomastia surgery There are several technical options for the treatment of gynecomastia, and the nature of the treatment determines the time needed before it is safe to return to vigorous athletic activity. For my patients the time ranges from 4 to 8 weeks, as determined by the method of correction and your progress with recovery. I would recommend that you speak with your surgeon, since he or she can give the best advice. If a patient experiences swelling upon return to athletic activity, I often recommend that he put the elastic vest back on for a few hours, apply ice, and restrict salt in the diet.

Answer: Gynecomastia surgery and sports Every patient heals differently, and certain procedures are more invasive than others. In general, I tell patients that they can return to vigorous activity within about 6-8 weeks. Best to ask your surgeon.
