I feel very uncomfortable without my compression garment on. Will this change with time?

Follow your plastic surgeon's advice.  Plastic surgeon preferences for compression garments and length of time to wear differ.  I ask my patients to wear compression garments to help obliterate dead space and reduce the incidence of fluid collections.  You probably feel more comfortable wearing the garment because you were fitted with the correct size garment for you at this point in your recovery period.  My practice provides my BBL patients with adjustable garments with multiple bands so that tension can be adjusted.   The garments typically do not cover the buttocks.  The key here is the size and the ability to tighten the garment, not the brand or make.  They find that wearing a soft t-shirt under the garment reduces skin irritation.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Not all surgeons use compression garments. I usually have patients wear it for 3-6 weeks. Best to review with your doctor.
