My face is round and chubby but I'm skinny. I don't like smiling because it makes my face look rounder. What procedure do I need? Buccal fat removal seems to be an option but there isn't much of a difference in before and after pictures that I have seen. I need some help
Answer: Buccal fat removal Buccal fat pad removal is a great operation when performed in properly selected patients and not just utilized haphazardly to create enhanced definition in a face. If your lower cheeks or submalar area (the area below your cheekbones themselves) are somewhat thin or narrow, taking out the buccal fat will highlight your cheekbones but possibly, with a trade off-that, could result in a gaunt, older looking face. To get more customized approach to your concerns as well as find out the exact cost, it is best to have an in person consultation for a board certified plastic surgeon.

Answer: have a round chubby face. What procedure do I need to get a more slim v shape?m = #buccalfatremoval could be an option Achieving a chiseled, less chubby V shaped face requires to address multiple factors in the face and the body composition to contribute to this physical finding. This analysis will help to determine what is the plastic surgery procedure(s) what could best help to correct a chubby face, thus achieve a slimmer more chilled face. Some of the physical findings that may need to be addressed to achieve a slimmer / chiseled face are: Lower anterior cheek fullness: this could be addressed surgically with buccal fat removal Lower posterior cheek fullness: this could be achieving my treating the masseter muscle ( a masticatory muscle) with Botox. The masseter muscle gives bulk to the lower posterior cheek fullness at the level of the angle of the jaw bone Overall body fat: weight loss to achieve a normal or low normal weight for the height ( normal BMI) is a must. (most models with chiseled face have are "skinny" and therefore have a BMI in the low normal range) Anterior and lateral cheek bone projection: lack of cheek bone projection won't allow to have a chiseled appearance, event if the above factors are achieved. Therefore, it someone has not good cheek bone projection, he or she may require cheek augmentation/ enhancement with either soft tissue fillers like Voluma or cheek implants Saggy facial skin: young people usually doesn't have saggy facial skin. Patients in the 30s or 40s may have some aging related sagginess that may be improved with soft tissue fillers Patients interested in determining if buccal fat removal may help to achieve a chiseled face should make a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon specialized in plastic surgery procedures of the face.

Answer: Round face Dear marnn005,buccal fat removal can help you reduce the width of your face, especially when smiling. Also, Botox injections to masseter muscle might help. I would recommend a formal evaluation performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery

Answer: Slimming the face Buccal fat removal can help if you have fullness when smiling. This would allow your cheekbones to become more prominent. However, it will not fully address your desire for a V shape. Options for that depend on your anatomy. If your masseter muscle is very bulky and strong, that may be contributing to the roundness at your jawline. This can be treated with serial botox injections. If it's your bone that's making your face wider at the jaw, there are ways to shave the bone down to give you a slimmer look. Or, a combination of all these procedures may be needed. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon, having someone examine you and talk with you can help answer many of your questions! I hope this helps. -Dr. Mills
