I notice most people get their first lift at around age 60..but isn't that really too late? It seems the younger the better as the sagging and deep lines can be targeted early and prevent them from developing and getting worse. Do any surgeons find this to be true? Thanks!

Answer: Best age for a Facelift The most appropriate time to consider a facelift is when premature sagging or skin excess visible on your face, neck or brow starts to impair your self-esteem and confidence. This is usually between the ages of 40 and 65 years, but it may be earlier or later. Once these changes have set in, there are a number of logical reasons why it is beneficial to perform surgery earlier rather than unnecessarily delay it. This is because delaying surgery can cause unnecessary loss of skin texture in the future and becomes a concern, or, when delayed, the surgery required becomes more involved and anaesthesia can become more of a risk. Performing surgery earlier means that the required changes will be more subtle

Answer: Ideal Age for a Facelift When is the ideal time for a facelift? The short answer - for most patients it’s in their 50's. Of course it is not as simple as that. Everyone ages at a different rate, depending on their life style, genetics and general health. In my 30 year experience as a facelift surgeon, having performed thousands of facelifts I have developed certain specific guidelines. If the patient has determined that she or he will undergo a facelift at some point in their life, than the ideal time for a facelift is whenever I see some specific signs of aging in their face that represent certain underlying anatomic changes. For most patients that happens at some point in their 50's. In these patients the first facelift can result in a natural and beautiful result that can last for many years. Seek out an experienced and talented facelift expert for an in person evaluation to determine if you are ready for your first facelift.
