How soon after Brazilian butt lift can I get a tummy tuck?

What is the recovery time for Brazilian butt lift and tummy tuck? If the Brazilian butt lift is without any complications, how long will I have to wait to get a tummy tuck? Thank you.

Depending on the procedures and how they were performed, I recommend 2-3 months between surgeries. After having a Brazilian Butt Lift I advise a minimum of 3 months before having an abdominoplasty. By then, it will be clear how much of the fat from your Brazilian Butt Lift has survived. This is also to ensure that you have healed adequately from the first procedure and have enough reserves to heal properly from the second. Lastly, it is to ensure that you are physically able to tolerate the restrictions required during the first couple of weeks after the abdominoplasty.

I would wait at least two weeks to ensure that you will not be sleeping and sitting directly on your buttocks, which is what you will be doing after your tummy tuck. After a tummy tuck you will sleep wit pillows under your waist and knees to take tension off the incision. Pressure from that position and sitting can reduce the survival of some of the fat for the BBL.

In my opinion, the recovery for a Brazilian buttock lift is about 4 to 6 weeks to return to work. However, for the swelling to go away enough to undergo a tummy tuck, the average patient might be looking at 6 months before the second procedure. Tummy tuck and Brazilian may sometimes be combined in patients, but the risks will certainly be higher. Not all surgery needs to be staged. Multiple procedures during the same operation are very common and very appropriate. There are the financial considerations. For example, doing two procedures at the same time is typically less expensive than two procedures in separate operations. If you separate the operations, then there are twice the anesthesia fees. Twice the operating room fees. Whereas when you combine a procedure, those fees will be combined and be less.
However, safety is the primary concern for the doctor, even if finances are the primary concern for the patient. And planning the second stage of the surgery is entirely up to the patient unless there is a medical reason to wait longer. After one procedure, you're likely to not want to go back under right away. However, once the patient feels up to it, the second procedure can be scheduled.

Thanks for the great question! I tell patients they will need to wait at least 6 months from the time of the BBL to the tummy tuck. That being said, it is possible to combine the two procedures together depending on your goals. If you want maximum volume in you BBL, then it's best to separate the two. Although, it may be possible to have a Brazilian butt lift and a tummy tuck performed at the same time, it may or may not be in your best interest.
