Thank you for your question.Accutane is a safe medication to take for treatment of Acne, but it can make some patients sun sensitive. If you are working outside and will be under sun exposure its best that you protect your skin with a high SPF sunscreen and wear long sleeves and pants. When you're taking medications that can make you sun sensitive there's a higher chance of having a sun burn when exposing yourself for longer periods of time without sun protection. Thank you for your question.A common side effect of Accutane is photosensitivity where the skin can burn easily. I generally advise my patients to constantly reapply sunscreens or sunblocks with at least SPF 50 to all sun exposed every 90 min to 2 hours. Also, keeping covered will also aid in sun protection.
