In my practice, we prefer that the HbA1c should be below 7 before undergoing liposuction. If it is above 7, then we encourage our patients to visit their primary care physician who may adjust the medication regimen to obtain better glycemic control. Being close to your ideal body weight is ideal, but this is not a requirement in my practice. The most important thing is that your surgeon sets realistic expectations for you on what type of results you can achieve.
Hemoglobin A1C is a test used to diagnose diabetes and to monitor how well it is being controlled. Diabetics on insulin are at very high risk for infections and are not good candidates for lipo by any technique. Diabetics on pills or diet control are at lower risk than insulin diabetics, but need to have adequate A1C levels prior to surgery to ensure a safe procedure. BMI isn't really a contraindication to any type of lipo, but if you are very obese, lipo won't do much for your appearance.
hello cherryiceIt is best to be closer to your normal A1C, you should as your plastic surgeon questions about this concern. #options #bmi
A1C is a measure of your diabetes control. If too high your risk of infection and healing post procedure will not be optimal and lend you to not be a great lipo candidate. BMI in general, you do not want to be obese which is indexed as being >30. If you carry that much adipose tissue you should lose some weight. Liposuction does remove fat but is meant to remove stubborn fat areas to help unmask underlying anatomy.
Hi there. The closer to normal the A1C the better for purposes of healing faster. If slightly abnormal, it should not be a problem for vaser liposuction. As for BMI, there is really no limit on this value for liposuction. Liposuction is a body sculpting procedure and the more reasonably sized the area is, the better the results will be in general.
Thank you for your question! In order to get the best results for VASER liposuction we recommended that you are at your stable weight and optimal health. There are no specific guidelines for Hgb A1c or BMI before having VASER liposuction. However it is recommended that you be at healthy weight and have developed muscles as VASER allows us to remove the superficial and deep layers of fat and contour the body. If you have underlying muscles, VASER will allow for your physician to etch your underlying muscles and provide a complete body transformation. Please feel free to watch the following video for more information.
Prior to any surgical procedure it is important to be healthy, but I don’t put a limit on the HbA1c or BMI.Obviously, the lower the HbA1c the better your DM is in control, which means you heal better in general. But in my hands the cannula sites are very small so healing is overall easier.A lower BMI is better, under 30 is optimal, but not a prerequisite.Choose an expert. Best. Dr Brecht
Hello hayatbouya, With VASER, swelling and bruising can last for up to 6-8 weeks. However, the amount of discomfort experienced will depend on the number of areas treated and the treatment locations. If you are concerned, I would recommend contacting your doctor to discuss this matter. Best of...
Thank you for your question, I advise you to sit back and calm, its too early to judge a result. Even if you would need a correction of the surgery, you will have to wait till 3 months atleast.
You are a PERFECT candidate for Vaser lipo. We use this technology to mascularize the body by accentuating the lateral pelvic rim and the lateral hip concavity (below the pelvic rim) to provide that ideal V shape. We also use fat grafting to accentuate the chest by creating a strong flat armor p...
