I had abdominal liposuction 3 months ago and I feel like I need just a little more on one side to even me out. Is 3 months a long enough time to have the same area re lipoed? Thank you for your help
Answer: Liposuction Redo? Yes, liposuction to the same area to improve contour and correct any irregularities is not uncommon for lipo patients. It's difficult to determine if you are a good candidate without any photos, but 3 months is about the time it takes for your post op swelling to go down and your body to heal. The definitive correction for liposuction deformities requires the advanced technology of ultrasound assisted VASER liposuction. As an official trainer of VASER liposuction, I encounter suboptimal liposuction outcome referrals weekly. VASER liposuction has been the only modality that has consistently corrected liposuction caused deformities. VASER liposuction ensures a smooth contour regardless of severity of contour irregularities by virtue of being able to remove any and all remaining fat comprehensively and uniformly. Finally, when skin redundancy irregularities are observed, Renuvion technology can be simultaneously applied to tighten your skin to optimize your overall contour outcome. A Skype or FaceTime consultation with a VASER specialist will help you get an accurate recommendation and pricing. Respectfully, Arian Mowlavi MD, FACS Realself 100 Hall of Fame Inductee

Answer: Revision liposuction I typically ask my patience to wait six months before doing a revision liposuction. The primary reason for this is to allow swelling to subside but also to let scar tissue mature making the second liposuction procedure more accurate and easier. When looking at results especially at a symmetry it's important to look for symmetry in your before pictures. If you don't have high-quality before pictures then ask your provider to forward them. This in large part determines if someone is a good candidate for revision liposuction. Sometimes an uneven fat distribution is obvious other times not so much. To determine if a second round of liposuction is justified it requires an assessment just like the first time. This is best done with an examination. If there is fat there then liposuction may be an option whether you've had liposuction before or not. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
