What is the recovery time for Palomar 2940 Erbium Fraxel laser resurfacing?

Question

My doctor said he's putting the equipment on highest setting, doing two passes over most of my face and up to five around my mouth and chin, where I have deeper lines. I am planning on 11 days home after this procedure, and from all I've read and seen online, I'm concerned that the mouth/chin area will not be "presentable" yet, and I must get back to work. Your professional thoughts, please? And thank you in advance.....

Thank you for your question. 11 days is typically enough time. If you have some subtle redness, this can be covered with dermablend. I typically tell patients to avoid scheduling if they know they have an important social event within two weeks of the treatment.I hope this helps.- Dr. Bryson Richards

If you trust a physician to perform moderately aggressive laser resurfacing on your face, you should trust the information that physician provides re: postoperative recovery.  It is critically important that you have an open dialogue with your physician (and/or his staff) prior to undergoing laser resurfacing.

With the fractionated erbium you should be looking pretty good after a few days.  (5-7).  Two passes is not an aggressive treatment - I usually do at least 4 everywhere.

aggressive settings, downtime is usually from 5-7 days, in most cases. Working
with your physician on what is best for you in the post-operative time period,
can help, in many cases, make the downtime even less. You need to work with
your physician to maximize the procedure, maximize your skin care, and minimize
your downtime. Always work with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic
surgeon to make sure you get the best possible results.
