Is 39 too young for a face lift? I recently had juvederm for marionette lines and nasolabial folds and think they helped to smooth my cheeks out, but my marionette line on the left looks worse. I'm wondering if I just need a lift. My whole lower face seems to be sagging. I wonder if I'm a good candidate for a face lift or if I need to find someone with more skill to inject dermal fillers.
Answer: Facelift Before 40 I actually think some people wait too long to get facelifts. There really is no age that determines whether someone is ready for a facelift. Many of my facelift patients are in their 40s. In your case, a full facelift may be considered if more fillers in the "pre-jowl" area fail to give you the desired results. The best thing to do is consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon. He or she will recommend the options that are most appropriate people with minor signs of aging. Best wishes.

CONTACT NOW Answer: Is 39 too young for a face lift? In most people the process of aging begins in their late 20s, and the signs of it become perceptible by 30-35, as the skin starts to lose facial volume, that cause appearing the folds, furrows and facial lines, sometime "marionette lines". By the age of 55 -60 years these changers are permanent already, that are difficult to correct with a facelift alone. We should take in mind the general rule, which states that prevention is always easier than correction. Taking action early, in your 40’s or 50’s, will help prevent these permanent changes. In other words, if a 40-year old isn't happy about his appearance and thinks non-surgical treatments don't work for him, then he becomes a candidate for a facelift.

Answer: What Age is Best for a Facelift A person’s age is best guessed by the appearance of their face. If you feel that your face does not reflect how young you feel inside, you may be a candidate for a facelift. During your #consultation, your skin texture and elasticity, as well as your underlying skin structure and your facial bone structure will be evaluated. Based on this evaluation, your board certified plastic surgeons will create a custom surgical plan, detailing specific techniques and recommendations to meet your goals. In doing so, he or she should be sure to have a full understanding of what results you expect. If you are not a #candidate, your surgeon can make other suggestions to address your concerns and objectives. Patients who desire facial rejuvenation that is affordable, quick, and effective should consider the Lite-lift™. Like the Life-Style™ facelift, this is a modified facelift, individualized for each patient, that can be performed in the office with a local anesthetic and improve signs of aging around the neck, jawbone and lower face. These procedures are not "Thread-lifts" or "String-lifts". We do not use the "barbed" sutures employed in these other lifting operations. The Lite-lift™ uses longer lasting techniques that are discussed below. Because the incisions are limited, there is less bruising, swelling and healing time for most patients. Many patients can be back to work in one to two weeks looking rested and more youthful. The best candidates for #LiteLift are non-smoking patients 35-60 years old with early changes of the lower face and the neck. But whose skin has elasticity with well defined bone structure. Older patients who cannot or do not wish to have a longer operation or general anesthetic can be improved with a Lite Lift™

Answer: Ideal Age for Facelift Thanks for your question. As has been stated by the other respondents, I agree that age is just a number. If your anatomy warrants facial rejuvenation treatment, then that should be the primary criterion. In your case, I think you are in the early stages, and could probably do well either with a face and neck lift, or more conservative non-surgical procedures. It’s always hard to say definitively without performing an in-person evaluation. My advice to you would be to book a few consultations with different Facial Plastic Surgeons in your area to get a few different opinions to help you make the decision. Best of luck! Dr. Alexander

Answer: Management of facial "sagging" with Minimally Invasive Midface Suspension ("MIMS") Patient with signs of early facial aging at young age ( e.g. 30s) could think that they need a facelift procedure. Facelift is usually not recommended before the age of 50 because facelift scars could heal very noticeable. Early facial aging in the form of development of moderate jowls, marionette lines and deepened “laugh lines” (nasolabial folds) with preserved facial volume may be secondary to midface soft tissue volume descend. Patient’s with this specific findings could benefit from a Minimally Invasive Midface Suspension procedure (a.k.a. MIMS), that reposition the midface tissues to a more youthful position without the need of injectable fillers or facelift surgery. The procedure can be performed safely under local anesthesia with minimal discomfort or pain, avoiding the risks and cost of associated with "going to sleep" (general anesthesia) or “twilight anesthesia” (IV sedation). Patients with early facial aging seeking facial rejuvenation should undergo consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon specialized in facial aesthetic surgery and minimally invasive surgical procedures.
