I would like to get PRP injected into some hollow areas on my face. I’ve had PRP facials but never had it injected. However, I’m not sure how much volume will be created. Is it possible to look overfilled after prp is injected? How does it know when to stop? I don’t want filler any more but I’m afraid that the prp will keep growing more than what I want? Hope that makes sense!
Answer: Can you looked over filled with PRP? You should not have to worry about over filling problems with PRP. Whatever volume increase you see will go away in a very short time.

Answer: PRP Facial Although PRP can plump the skin somewhat and make it look more healthy (basic explanation), its not necessarily filling anything. You can certainly look overfilled with too much filler injections though, but they are mostly temporary and can even be dissolved if you are overinjected. Most experienced injectors do not have the issue of overfilling patients.

Answer: Can You Look Overfilled with PRP? When PRP was first introduced for aesthetic use, we thought that it would be an alternative to fillers. This was a huge disappointment because although the skin improves and there is a little bit of plumpness with PRP injections, it does not give any significant volumization. Even PRFM (activated PRP) will not give you much volume so you don't have to worry about getting too much volume with PRP. If you want volume, you need to combine it with some fillers. This is what we call a Vampire Facelift®. PRP alone or in combination with micro needling (Vampire Facial®) will do wonders for your skin but is a poor volumizer even when injected.

Answer: PRP as filler PRP is not as reliable as filler for volume restoration. The response will vary from patient to patient. With regards to your specific question, PRP is essentially water and its component growth factors (harvested from whole blood). The initial fill effect will dissipate quickly. The volume effect secondary to collagen deposition can take several weeks. Over correction is highly unlikely as the effect is more qualitative rather than quantitative. You may consider augmentation of your PRP treatment with Fractora, Morpheus8 or other RF microneedling technology. As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).Donovan Rosas MD Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery Member: American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, American Society of Plastic Surgeons RealSelf Top 100 RealSelf Hall of Fame
