Is there such a thing as being too old for a BBL? While researching reviews, I see most patients are in their 20's and 30's - not too many in their 50's+ (when volume really seems to start decreasing). So, I'm wondering if there's reason for this? Is it more dangerous or does the fat just not take as well? I'm 56, do not smoke or drink, am in good health and have been considering this procedure.

Answer: BBL and age Glen, I feel the reason less older patients do the BBL is because we were raised without a concern for buttock size. There are no restrictions regarding age, but rather medial conditions and BMI (height to weight ratio). Best wishes. Dr T

Answer: Age limit on BBL Liposuction and to some degree fat transfer results are dependent on having a tight skin to give high-quality results. Skin laxity it’s probably the primary reason patients fail to get good results from body contouring procedures. Patients who are older may not have significant skin laxity but skin elasticity does decrease with age which often acts similar to skin laxity. Significant fat removal with liposuction can also worsen skin appearance when skin lacks elasticity by showing fine wrinkles. The interest in cosmetic surgery for body contouring seems to go down with age and facial appearance seems to be more important in those who are a bit older. Patients in their 50s can certainly have a BBL procedure and if otherwise being a good candidate should expect good results but the results may not be as good as someone who is in their 20s.
