A more natural lip appearance can often be achieved by carefully removing harmful foreign material from the lips. Our patient is a 28-year-old White female who came to Dr. J. Timothy Katzen because of previously injected foreign bodies in both her upper and lower lips. She was most concerned about the retained material, the scar tissue surrounding it, and the risk of granulomas and associated cancer. To treat these issues, Dr. Katzen performed silicone injection removal of the lips under general anesthesia. In this procedure, the abnormal injected material is carefully identified within the lip tissue and surgically excised. At the same time, any problematic scar tissue is also addressed to help restore a smoother contour. Lip foreign body removal is an advanced reconstructive procedure because the surgeon must remove harmful material without overly disrupting the natural architecture of the lips. These injections can cause chronic swelling, firmness, nodules, uneven shape, and visible lip distortion that cannot be corrected without surgery. By removing the foreign bodies and refining the tissue, this procedure can improve both safety and appearance. Her after photos were taken just 2 weeks after surgery and already show remarkable results, including better symmetry, softer-looking lips, and a healthier overall contour. Since healing is still in the early phase, her progress is especially impressive and should continue to improve over time.

Permanent lip fillers can become a serious problem when they cause pain, burning, and changes in the way the lips look and feel. Our patient is a 41-year-old White female who sought Dr. J. Timothy Katzen after having permanent filler placed illegally into both the upper and lower lips 20 years ago by an aesthetician in Germany. She had been told the product was a biopolymer. Years later, she began experiencing burning sensations in her lips and wanted the product removed before the problem worsened. Dr. Katzen recommended lip foreign-body injection removal to remove the permanent filler and the tissue affected by it. Under general anesthesia, he carefully opened the lips and removed the abnormal material from both the upper and lower lips. Lip foreign body removal is often needed when permanent fillers harden, irritate the tissue, or create an unnatural contour. Unlike temporary fillers, permanent products can remain in the lips for years and continue causing symptoms. The goal of surgery is to remove the foreign material, improve comfort, and help restore a more natural lip shape. These photos were taken 1 week after surgery and already show our patients remarkable result. Her case demonstrates Dr. Katzens expertise in lip filler removal surgery, permanent filler removal, and foreign body removal of the lips for symptomatic biopolymer injections. Early healing already suggests a softer texture, better contour, and improved comfort.

Working hand in hand with the dentist, her teeth were first reconstructed utilizing dental implants secured to her upper and lower jaw bones. Once performed, Dr. Randal Haworth carried out his signature FATMA operation to roll out her lip mucosa from the inside to the out while simultaneously performing a permanent fat transfer to her lips. To tie it all together, he also performed bilateral corner lip lifts.

This female patient had classic signs of perioral aging, including a long upper lip, asymmetrically ptotic corners as well as a sagging lower lip. She had no upper tooth show and all lower. filler injections over time can cause nodules and scarring that can turn the lip rather inwards. such scarring is sometimes not responsive to smaller doses of Hyaluronidase enzyme whereas larger amounts can cause significant loss of soft tissues. the nodules were removed surgically, lip mucosa was advanced and patient now has rather fuller lips with original shaped being restored. its a bit swollen as its only 2 weeks but that will go down.

This patient presented with facial changes due to aging. Her biggest concerns were brow ptosis with a significant amount of forehead wrinkling, as well as loose skin in the neck and jowls. The patient also presented with small lips and a lack of facial fat in the cheek area. A face/neck lift, anterior forehead lift, fat transfer to cheeks, and lip augmentation via fat graft were performed. These procedures significantly rejuvinated her face. Six months post op the patient returned for a consultation with the doctor regaurding her hooded eyelids. An upper eyelid blepharoplasty was performed.

This patient lost 25% of her lower lip from a dog bite injury. A complex reconstruction was performed to realign her lip muscles and borders, provide bulk and symmetry. She is recovering well 3 months after the procedure. She has no issues pursing her lips, chewing on food or drinking liquids. The goal of reconstruction to restore normal function and obtain good cosmesis.
