This 42-year-old patient sought improved abdominal contours to enhance her midsection. On examination, she presented with moderate abdominal lipodystrophy, excess abdominal skin, and rectus diastasis (separation of the abdominal muscles).Dr. Delatte performed a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) to tighten her abdominal muscles, remove excess skin, and create a firmer, smoother profile. Additionally, 500cc of fat was removed through liposuction in the stomach area, further refining her contours and achieving a balanced silhouette.

	Liposuction is done on an outpatient basis. General anesthesia is usually used for safety and comfort. Small suction tubes (cannulas) are inserted through very short incisions placed in inconspicuous locations near the fat deposits, and excess fat is removed. If large volumes of fat are to be removed, we will probably ask you to donate one or two units of blood and take supplemental iron before surgery. Your own blood will be used as a transfusion at the end of surgery.


Liposuction

This patient presented with several concerns, including breast asymmetry, with one breast larger than the other, and a desire for smaller implants. She also expressed frustration with persistent weight retention in the mid to lower abdomen. Her preoperative diagnosis included excess abdominal skin, rectus diastasis, flank and trunk lipodystrophy, aging breast implants, breast hypoplasia, and breast asymmetry. After a thorough consultation and evaluation, Dr. Delatte proceeded with a comprehensive surgical plan that included a full abdominoplasty, bilateral breast implant exchange, trunk and flank liposuction, and combined fat removal from the axilla.The breast implants were exchanged for saline implants, with 325cc placed in the left breast and 300cc in the right breast to address asymmetry and achieve a more balanced, natural appearance. To improve the abdominal contour, a full abdominoplasty was performed to remove excess skin, tighten the abdominal muscles, and correct the rectus diastasis. Liposuction was performed to address localized fat deposits, removing 1150cc of fat from the left flank and back, 1200cc from the right flank and back, and 1050cc from the abdomen. An additional 350cc of fat was removed from the axillary region to create a smoother, more defined overall contour.
