In addition to his expertise, Dr. Humphrey is extremely kind and caring. He really took the time to listen to my concerns, go over the pros and cons of the different treatments, and helped me chose the best options for my concerns. Additionally, it was so reassuring to have an actual Facial Plastic Surgeon do the injecting and I am so happy with my results. The entire office staff was wonderful and made me feel very comfortable. I have had other facial treatments/procedures at other places, but I will only be seeing Dr. H from now on.
I had a rhinoplasty in done by Dr. Clinton Humphrey in Kansas City 11 months ago. Right after I got the cast off I was crushed because it was so high (nostrils showed a lot), wide, and slightly crooked (leans to the left). He assured me it would come down. It hasn't. Look at my question for a before photo and photos at 1 month out from surgery. Here are some photos from 11 months out. As you can see, my nose basically hasn't changed since the 1 month mark.. On top of this, my breathing is worse than it used to be (even though I had a septoplasty at the same time as my rhinoplasty to make my breathing better). He told me I may have some nasal valve collapse now. Bottom line, I would not recommend getting a rhinoplasty unless your nose is severely deformed. It just isn't worth it. Try to enjoy and be thankful for what you've got! Updated on 24 Nov 2013: Updated on 24 Nov 2013: Updated on 24 Nov 2013: Updated on 23 Dec 2014: A week ago (12/17/14), I had a revision done by Dr. Humphrey to correct my breathing problems primarily, and also to correct the slight crookedness and bring the tip down a bit (so my nostrils are not as pronounced). He did the revision for free. He said that it is very rare for his patients to breathe worse after surgery (most of them breathe much better), and he hoped I would give him the chance to correct it. I'm so glad I did! I got my cast off today, and I am wowed. I can breathe amazingly well just one week after surgery (yay!), and my nose looks so much better even with the swelling that is left. It is straight and the tip is lower, so my nostrils show much less! I'm absolutely thrilled with the results! (pictures to come in a few weeks after the swelling goes down) I've been extremely impressed Dr. Humphrey throughout this revision process. He has been incredibly patient and prompt in answering my questions in person, over the phone, and even in emails. He actually called me personally the day after surgery to see how I was doing! I'm blown away by his professionalism and kindness. If you are in Kansas City and are considering a rhinoplasty, I highly recommend that you consider Dr. Humphrey! You will be in very good hands!
I have been teased about my nose since I entered middle school. Everything of mine matured early and seemed to stop growing when I turned 13, except my nose. It seemed like every year it got bigger and bigger. When I moved to a new school, people would make fun of me and call me Tucan Sam and when they saw me would yell "Tuci Tuci!". I have also been called Jew nose and other slanders. It has caused me to have a very low self esteem and low standards when it comes to partners. I start college in August and I hope the new me will bring about confidence so that the first thing people notice about me won't be my nose for a change. Because lets face it, when we meet someone new we tend to characerize them by their flaws, even when we don't realize it. I am not too nervous about the surgery, I trust my doctor, however I am nervous that the results won't be what I expected and I will have shoveled out all this money for nothing. He said the surgery will not be too complex since all he needs to do is shave off the bump, so hopefully my recovery time will be more minimul because I do want to enjoy my summer. I will update once the surgery is done! Updated on 3 Oct 2013: So it's been a year since my surgery. I'm still not completely happy my results but my nose does look natural and has improved since befor so I am grateful for that. I severely doubt I will have a revision due to how my body reacts to anesthesia (hairloss), but my hair has also grown back nicely it just took a while (it's been a year and it still hasn't grown back completely). Overall I would say it was worth it in the long run, I am definitely more secure with my side profile.
Enophthalmos, or a sunken appearing eye, may develop only after swelling resolves during the weeks following a facial injury that includes a facial fracture. The fracture patterns that can result in a sunken eye are most commonly 1) orbital floor blowout fractures, 2) orbital medial wall blowout fractures, and 3) severe zygomaticomaxillary complex (ZMC) fractures. ZMC fractures typically need to be addressed within 2 weeks before healing prevents bone mobilization and fracture reduction. However, orbital blowout fractures of the floor and medial wall can be treated successfully even weeks or months following the injury. Once exophthalmos or a sunken eye develops due to an orbital blowout fracture, only surgical treatment can restore symmetry by correcting the volume of the injured bony orbit.
While some advocate for using injectable fillers to perform "non-surgical rhinoplasty," this can require the injection of a large volume of product that potentially can lead to catastrophic complications (see the link below to my peer-reviewed publication "Soft Tissue Fillers in the Nose"). However, I do believe that a small volume of a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler can be used to correct some minor post surgical deformities of the upper two thirds of the nose with minimal risk. For example, bumps or irregularities along the bridge can be improved by filling adjacent depressed areas when present.
Nostril asymmetry following rhinoplasty is a common problem. There are many potential causes including over resection of cartilage, inconsistent incision placement, and even pre existing asymmetry that has simply become more obvious following your rhinoplasty surgery. If necessary, revision rhinoplasty with cartilage and/or composite grafting can typically correct or at least improve nostril asymmetry.
Nostril asymmetry is a common problem following rhinoplasty surgery. A common cause of arched or retracted nostrils is aggressive resection of the lower lateral cartilages that contribute to the shape of the nasal tip. It appears in your photographs that significant portions of these cartilages could have been resected It also appears that your bridge has been lowered. Another revision rhinoplasty with cartilage grafting would be required to restore more normal contour to the nostrils and bridge.
Following Kybella treatments, it is typical to experience swelling, firmness, and tenderness in the treated area. Initially, the area where the fat deposit was treated will become much fuller (exactly the opposite of the desired outcome). The contour should start to slowly improve after 6 to 8 weeks, and 3 or more injection sessions may be necessary before the desired results are achieved.
