I (24) male had a chin augmentation surgery one year ago. Sadly my implant got infected and had pus oozing out. My surgeon cleaned it and removed the infection lump . It's been 1 month since I got it cleaned and pus still keeps oozing out and I got it cleaned once again and situation hasn't improved since. My surgeon suggested anti biotics and anti bacterial tube. Should I get a second opinion or will the infection get cured?
My jaw wraparound implant got infected and formed two fistulas on either corners of chin. I took antibiotics and so far no more problems thank od. But the muscle when I smile looks botched as it curves up then straight down giving me a whitches chin as I smile. How can I fix the muscle ?G
Recently I went to a consultation for the removal of a chin implant I got around 6 years ago. My new surgeon was telling me he recommends going in through the mouth to remove it due to the fact that if he goes from under the chin (which is the method my first surgeon used to insert it) it will make the scar I have bigger and more noticeable. For me my biggest concern is safety. Ive read that going in through the mouth is risky and can cause infection. Is this rare? Should I find a new surgeon?
I was curious how long one should typically be on antibiotics after they get jaw angle implants. My surgeon gave me 21 antibiotics but I was told to take them starting the day before surgery. So I was only on them 3 days PO and j ended up developing an infection. I'm really upset as I made sure my oral care was very strict. Was this a mistake on their end?
I noticed my chin implant seemed to be a bit higher about 8 weeks post op. I then started to notice some swelling around my jaw line and the side of my face. The implant looked great after surgery. After asking my boyfriend if he thought it looked different and if my face looked swollen he said yes. So I sent some pics to the doctor asking if it might be infected. He was not concerned because there was no jaw work done. He did prescribe antibiotics. I see my old chin below my implant now
Im considering a chin implant and with preference of it being done under the chin rather than intra orally after reading and seeing other peoples experiences. I wanted to know would some acne( recently breaking out a bit) and facial hair ( I do shave under my chin) around and under the chin be a possible concern for infection of an implant? As Thats one of my biggest fears with this procedure among shifting, and more, etc.
Everywhere I look, plastic surgeons always say that the success rate is high and the complication rate is very low in the right hands. This is frustrating to me because I want want to know what high success rate means. Does anybody have any number statistics based on a large sample size? If not, in your experience doing this procedure, roughly how many bad procedures have you had happen. I consider a complication to be major asymmetry and infection.
