In our Invisalign community many people look back on their experiences and say, 'I wish I had known...' some information before having the treatment. Here are 18 of the top tips from RealSelf members and medical practices that you may find helpful. 1. You can still kiss. A big concern in our community is how Invisalign may affect romance. Answers vary. Some...

I would love to know why the edges are not smoother. I feel this represents the product. I have 2 canker sores on the inside of my lower lip. I feel this is a quality control issue that should be looked into by the company. Why must we whittle away at our trays with a nail file when we paid $5,000 for a finished product. It should be called an UNfinished product and come with some sand paper....

Please read this first if you are considering braces and in particular Invisalign because I had a really bad experience and the stuff that I am going to talk about is unlikely to be raised by your orthodontist when he/she explains the risks involved in your treatment. Having braces has serious consequences for the whole of your body not just your teeth. The reason for this is that your teeth...

How much does invisalign cost all together?   Editor's Note: Check the Invisalign cost map for local prices reported by other RealSelf community members.

It seems there are many ways to clean Invisalign trays. The Invisalign company even sells a cleaning kit, but at $75 for 50 cleanings that seems crazy expensive to me. What have you found to be the best way to clean your trays? Also, if you tried anything you would suggest others avoid (ie, did you boil them?!) feel free to list that too. Sometimes knowing what not to do is just as important...

I'm on day 4 of my first tray...or the "training tray" as my ortho called it.  My teeth are uncomfortable, which I understand and can deal with.  What I am having a hard time dealing with is the sharp edges.  The front bottom has created a sore on my inner bottom lip, I have cutouts for elastic :(  that is cutting up the inside of my upper lip.  The edges on the...

I'm sure the struggles of this woman are all too familiar for most Invisalign wearers. What ways have you found to get them out more quickly or more discreetly?

I am currently on my 21st tray lowers, and two of my teeth have split (up and down) and was wondeting if anyone else had that complaint?  If so, let me know, thanks

Getting my Invisalign today.   I'm hoping, as an added bonus it will help me lose weight too!  Anyone lose weight?  How much have you lost?  Any tips?  Thanks!

I read here about invisaline may cause me to lisp. i haven't heard of metal braces causing lisping so maybe it's a better choice than invisaline?

Is the expertise of an orthodontist needed for any type of tooth movement, or should I feel comfortable going with a general dentist? I don't want to waste time or money, so choosing who I will go to does matter. I read an interesting article written by Dr. Ted Rothstein where he alerts the public on the rising levels of substandard Invisalign treatment by insufficiently trained general...

Hi all, I have seen few people who finished treatment with Invisalign, and their teeth are still a little crooked. What are your experiences about results from Invisalign?

So you have been researching options to perfect your smile, and have decided Invisalign is the way to go. You find an Invisalign Preferred Provider and think you must be in good hands if you choose them, right? After all, the Align company itself (makers of Invisalign) has said they are Preferred. Then you hear there is a Premier Provider, whose experience is greater than that of the Preferred...

Hi- I'm a 22 year old adult who has really crooked teeth. I ordered Invisalign yesterday and was wondering what kind of pain I'll feel.

I have a pointy piece of plastic on my tray that is cutting into my cheek. Any suggestions on how to fix. This is my first tray and I don't think I can do 2 weeks like this Thanks!

So I read that Invisalign can cause changes with saliva (either lots of dribbling or dry mouth) but I don't quite understand how it's made my lips so dry! They are really badly cracked and I've never suffered with this before. I'm using a lot of lip balm etc but I still need to be really aware before I smile in case I open the cracks up :S  All the other 'bad' things about Invisalign have...

I've been trawling the internet to find someone in a similar situation to me, but I can't!I have 98 trays - for both upper & lower (as in 98 for upper, 98 for lower - 196 in total!) It's costing me $10,000AUD (try not to fall over backwards after hearing that.)I believe I'm to change them weekly as was promised 2 year treatment time (ortho was away at fitting so waiting the weekend to find out...

Hi Guys,Tonight I will be switching to Tray 2 and as hard as it was in the very beginning to remove these aligners I've finally started to get into a momentum on how to remove them, however my bottom aligners are still giving me some trouble. I even slightly teared/cracked my bottom aligners when I was removing it. The only tool that I've seen people mention on here is the Outie tool but I'm a...

The orthodontist used a great deal of force.  He had to continue to numb my gums several times during the procedure, which took two hours.  The Propel injection sites continued to ooze blood over 24 hours after the procedure, and now three days later bruises are forming on my chin and cheek.  Has this happened to anyone else?  Is this normal?
