Has anyone lost weight wearing Invisalign?

By Crystleen on 16 May 2012

Getting my Invisalign today.   I'm hoping, as an added bonus it will help me lose weight too!  Anyone lose weight?  How much have you lost?  Any tips?  Thanks!

Yes, I started mine a week ago and have lost a few pounds. I don't want to take them out so I don't snack during the day at all. My teeth were also very sore for the first few days so I didn't eat much at all. I expect the weight loss will taper off as I adjust to wearing the aligners.

I started mine yesterday, Some discomfront but not inbearable. Hard to get out and in. Due to where my snaps are makes chewing difficult. Running mash potatos, pudding , jello my best friend right now

I will be starting Invisalign today, and I am hoping that I will lose some weight through this process, a bit overweight. Will let you know how it goes.

Yeah it was funny last night as I was falling asleep I was trying to find the best way to relax and close my mouth without grinding (which I have always done)

It will take a few days for the real pain to subside, mine are still tender after a week but now I don't need pain killers, I can't bite out of anything and only can chew soft foods with my back teeth. I've noticed though that I bite down on my trays alot, which make all my teeth tender, I need to relax more I guess.

Oh nice! I have both trays as of yesterday. My top tray goes in & out with ease and no pain, but the bottom is KILLING me :(

Ha! I don't bite mine either now... I've had mine for a week, just the bottom, getting my top tray in a week and a half.

That's awesome! Congrats! I also realized that I can't bite or chew on my fingers/nails anymore! Another plus!! How long do you have to wear yours?

Good for you Katie! I've cut way down too since getting mine. No more sipping on 1 or 2 32oz soda's through out the day for sure. Now it's water water water! I've completed my first week and I've lost 4 lbs. I want to lose 30 lbs.

I got my Clear Correct (same thing as Invisalign) yesterday and have already noticed that I've cut WAY down on snacking. I am a BIG snacker so I'm hoping to lose at least 10-15lbs based off this change in diet. I am also going to try to include exercise in my new routine and aim to lose 25lbs.

KatieH, It's been almost a year since your post, can you tell the forum how you are doing with Clear Correct? Did they move your teeth as you expected? Any suggestions for those of us who are just getting ready to start treatment? Thanks! DZ

Thanks! Megan P. I read the Q&A. Good information by Dent/Ortho's. But, really curious about what people that actually wear them have to say! There is not much online, as I have researched it. Hoping to find the answer here. I love this site and reading about people that really understand where you are coming from.

What a great forum to start Crystleen!! I have noticed people mentioning weight loss as an added benefit to Invisalign, so it will be really interesting to hear how much people are losing on average.

Here is a Q&A that talks about it too:
