The picture you show is neither Invisalign or Vivera. They appear to be clear "Essix" type retainers. They can, however, be fabricated to achieve minor tooth movement. Mostly, it mainly functions as a retainer. If it is digging into your gums, just request your doctor to trim it for you.

On the surface, your question sounds relatively simple but your photo makes me want to ask many more questions. Does the photo represent your "normal" bite (the normal position your upper and lower teeth fit together)? If it is, you have more significant issues than the small space. If it is not your normal bite, an accurate answer will be most difficult let alone a wild guess. Sorry

Based on your explanation of one side of your lip is more active than the other side...it sounds like a soft tissue problem opposed to a jaw or skeletal problem. The be absolutely sure, schedule a consultation with an orthodontist for a comprehensive evaluation.

It would be wise to get a comprehensive consultation so that the orthodontist can have a full view of exactly what your specific issues are and and how significant they are. It is difficult to make a definitive diagnosis from your photos. All of your issues can be corrected.  It will ultimately depend how much motivation you have to do what it takes to get your treatment goals accomplished which includes time, inconvenience and cost. You can be treated with either braces or Invisalign...treatment time can range from 6 to 24 months, depending on your treatment goals. Treatment can be as simple as short term braces to slightly more involved treatment with braces or Invisalign for up to 24 months to very complex treatment with braces plus surgical correction and/or TADs (temporary anchorage devices). Of course, your treatment will depend on your treatment goals. There is no easy answer.  Get a consultation...it's your best bet.

From what I can see from your photos you have several options open to you for the correction of your orthodontic problem. It's your choice.  You can do either traditional braces or Invisalign.  Yes, you are a candidate for Invisalign.  We also offer an accelerated orthodontic option which allows you to complete your treatment in about six months (Not 6 Month Smiles).  Our accelerated treatment option is performed by a board-certified orthodontist and not a general dentist. See the link below for more information.

Any costs associated with refinements are between you and your doctor and the treatment agreement you signed with your doctor irregardless of Invisalign's policies. If your doctor treatment planned your case properly and you wore your Aligners at least 22 hours-a-day EVERYDAY with NO cheating...and I mean absolutely no cheating, your case should have finished up fine without having to have any refinements, or at the very most, 1 series of refinements (8-15 sets of Aligners) for minor adjustments.

Most doctors will include at least one series of refinements with treatment except for situations where the patient was non-compliant.

My question to you is: "Were you non-compliant in any way during your treatment?" If you were at times non-compliant...that is a reason why your treatment did not work out and any extra needed refinements are on you. It takes a lot of time to retake impressions/scans and re-treatment plan a case...a whole lot more time for the doctor than you might think.

On the other hand, if you wore your Aligners strictly as instructed and your treatment did not work out as the Clincheck Plan directed, even after a round of refinements...that is on your doctor...it indicates poor treatment planning on the doctor's part and he/she should assume all costs to your case completed properly.

I would probably go see an orthodontist and get a consultation to see what is needed to get finished up correctly. The general dentist missed a few things....

If you have an orthodontist associated with a pediatric dentist might be the first place to start. Otherwise, most orthodontists are trained to treat growing children.

The length of time between your consultation visit and your treatment start can vary greatly depending on the size and busyness of the office and appointment availability. Usually expect a range of 1-14 days. It will take 1-2 visits.

I agree with your diagnosis...if you want to know if your issue can be corrected, the answer is yes. With braces, you are looking at about 15 to 18 months, with Invisalign you are looking at about 12 months.

I Want a Great Smile Without Braces. - Atlanta, GA

I hated the way my teeth looked. I had always been told that I would need braces but there was no way I was going to get braces at my age. Several doctors told me I was not a candidate for Invisaline and I might have to get some teeth pulled. No way with that either. I even went to a couple of elite invisaline doctors who said they could not use with me. A friend of mine told me about Dr. Walton. I'm glad I found him

33 Year Old - My Experience with Invisalign - Atlanta, GA

I had an amazing experience at Walton Orthodontics. I did a lot research to select the best Invisalign doctor for my treatment. I had several consultations but Dr Walton did the best job of explaining my treatment and made me feel very comfortable. Since I live out of state, I was concerned about selecting an office so far away from me. Dr Walton assured me he could design my Invisalign treatment around my schedule since he treats several college students also who go to school out of state. Dr Walton and his wonderful staff were able to schedule me every 3 to 4 months for my check-ups which was very convenient for me. My treatment went great and was on schedule. Very few people even noticed that I was in Invisalign. I love my new smile.

I Can't Believe Invisalign Worked So Well - Suwanee, GA

I was a patient of Dr Matt Walton in Suwanee, Ga. I had an exceptional Invisalign experience. I have always wanted to get my teeth straight but did not want the hassle of wearing braces, which was why I did not get them as a teenager. As an adult, braces were not an option for me. Unfortunately, every doctor I saw told me I was not a candidate for Invisalign or that it would not work. I found out about Dr Walton from a friend and was surprised to hear from him that Invisalign was an option for me. He showed several before and after pictures of other patients with worse teeth than me, so I felt comfortable he could do the work. I had very cooked teeth. 14 months later, I can't believe how good my teeth look. The results were way beyond my expectations...and no braces.

Don't Waste Your Time or MONEY!!!! - Suwanee, GA

Dr. Walton is really nice, that is UNTIL your last payment goes through(which he gets long before you are done). The absolute worse, my teeth look horrible after having invisalign at Dr. Walton's. He created so much space in between my teeth and they are all uneven at the bottom. Then I have a crack in my retainer which is pinching the inside of my lip and causing my teeth to become more uneven. When I advised him of this he became irritated. I would not recommend this place to anyone....NOT worth the steep price or Dr. Walton attitude
