The turkey wattle is not attractive. So when I turned 56 I decided to get it corrected. I didn't want to be under general anesthesia and wanted a Dr who regularly practiced conscious sedation. I chose Dr Stephen Adler because of his approach to a natural look with a very little downtime.
At 49 I decided to get a lower face lift. My neck disgusted me every time I looked down at my iPhone screen and saw the turkey waddle hanging under my chin! In May 2015 I underwent a local with some sedation lower facelift with Dr Adler. I am now 53 and you can see the lift didn't last long. I had to get a six month revision after because I developed a knot under my chin.
Nothing but excellent. I went to Dr. Adler to undo a botched facelift I had done in 2004 in Beverly Hills. I was a working actor (Screen Actor's Guild) and trusted my face to a mediocre surgeon 14 years ago. Needless to say, it ended my career in front of the camera. After years of research and interviewing dozens of doctors, I was recommended to Stephen Adler by another doctor. After just one surgery he undid everything the first doctor botched, which was no small feat. I not only look like I did before, but Dr. Adler fixed other issues that were concomitant with the 12 years that passed between surgeries. As far am I'm concerned, this plastic surgeon raises the bar for every plastic surgeon - not only in the State of Florida - but in the entire world. And, as an actor, who has worked globally, I speak from experience. This is the number one "go to" plastic surgeon. Period.
My 'gobbler' double chin runs in my family. You look at any woman in the family - young or old - and we all have it. I always hated it and knew it made me look older than I actually am. I have a slim body and if you only looked at my face you would think I was about 20 pounds heavier. I was nervous to undergo liposuction but knew it would be worth it. I've had every non-invasive treatment done to my body and to my chin. Some things helped a little but I was ready to go full-scale and change what nature gave me. Dr. Adler did standard tumescent lipo to my neck and chin. For contouring he actually lipo'd all the way back to my ears. I was awake through the operation - he only did local anesthesia (and PS - it's just a tiny needle for numbing and it doesn't hurt at all [if you have had Botox or fillers this needle is like soda pop, easy stuff]). I also took Valium and Oxycodone one hour before my appointment. The procedure itself took less than 15 minutes - it was super simple. It was painless and absolutely worth the price and results. I'm almost two weeks out now and still swollen - I saw Dr. Adler for my post-op last week and he told me I still have about 40% swelling and to get excited because my final results will be even better. Day 1 post-op (the morning after my surgery) he took my bandages off and my chin looked amazing. In the days since that is when the swelling has occurred. I've know that week 6 is the best time to see the final results. Updated on 7 Jun 2016: I just wanted to add that recovery, at least for me, wasn't painful at all. They gave my hydrocodone and I took it for about 2 days following the surgery and then I stopped. Today is week 2 and I still have a little swelling but already can see a huge difference from where my chin used to be. I definitely go through times where it feels numb but I know that's normal. My neck is tender but that doesn't bother me. I don't have any bumpiness or hard spots. Updated on 7 Jun 2016: Here's what my results looked like on Day 1. The swelling started on Day 2. So excited with the results! Updated on 15 Jun 2016: Swelling is going down a little day by day. Half way to the 6 week post op! Updated on 28 Jun 2016: I hit Week 5 today. Loving it. Lots of noticeable change. When I look in the mirror I even notice my chin looking slimmer at my jaw right under my ears. I notice a little swelling after my workouts and I think my results are definitely most noticeable and look the best in the morning. My husband has commented several times that my chin looks great. He likes that it's improved but that I 'still look like me'. Updated on 18 Jul 2016: I feel like the lipo under my chin has helped my entire face to look slimmer. No one who I haven't told has noticed 'hey you had lipo!!' but will often comment that I look 'good'. I also think I've been wearing less makeup lately - less contouring and things since I had the lipo.
Made appointment for fillers. Waited one hour past my appointment time to even get into exam room. I was one of 4 people waiting online for fillers. It was like a walk in clinic. Once I made it to exam room I was slathered with numbing gel, some of which got into my eye. Assistant then asked me what kind of fillers. I didn’t know so she looked at me and decided. My guess is it was what everyone else in front if me was getting to make it easy. Then waited another 20 minutes. Dr finally came in i he ref fillers which took about 10 minutes. No after I syructiks, no mirror to see, When I got up from chair I had blood on my top. Assistant handed me a tissue and ice back and my bill for 1700.00 I got into the car and cried when I looked at my face all bruised bloody and bumpy. Not to mention the fact that I paid to go through this. They are the most expensive plastic surgeon for fillers and I was referred by my doctor. Shame on me for not asking more questions. I called the next day they said that swelling and bumps would go down just keep icing.
