I had a tummy tuck April 15th... everything went well until 2 weeks ago when I noticed a spot about 1/2 an inch in length with some puss. I went to my plastic surgeon and the medical assistant said it was a suture abscess that it would heal on its own. I've kept it clean and have been applying OTC antibiotic ointment. Now it's almost a week later and it doesn't look better. In fact when i cleaned it today i got puss and blood and also noticed two black spots. Any suggestions?
I am 4 weeks post FTT. At my day 5 doctor visit, we noticed a red bump at the top of the incision. I figured it was a stitch coming out, and the nurse tried to coax it out w/ sharp tweezers, but nothing came of it. Yesterday while massaging the incision, I realized that the bump was no longer red and was just skin colored, and underneath it feel like a small pebble. The PS nurse said it would go away by itself eventually or I can try to get it dug out again. No infection. What should I do?
Went to see my PS yesterday for my 12 week visit. I told me I have a stitch abscess on outer right side of my incision. So bummed all has been going so well until this developed. It is small but uncomfortable. Prescribed antibiotics and gave me antibiotic cream. I will have to apply warm compress a couple of times a day. Just need some reassurance this is common set back that can occur. Will follow up visit in two weeks.
I am 25 days postop. On day 19 (top photo) I noticed a suture abscess. The middle picture was taken yesterday am and the bottom one this afternoon. I was placed on antibiotics yesterday. Will this to keep opening? I am cleaning it well, applying bacitracin, & keeping it covered. I added steristrips to keep it from opening anymore. How long does something like this take to heal? I'm worried about it getting worse. I see my PS Monday am, he was concerned about this spot when I saw him Wed

I haf a TT 5 weeks ago and i developed a stitch absses according my surgeon. He said that i should put gauze and let it bc the stitch came out while i was showering. I saw it myself. I always put tripe antibiotic and cover it. It have been 3 wks already and is slowly getting better. I think i should not cover it anymore so it can dry and form a scab. I think that way it will heal faster. I am not sure. Everytime i took the gauze off it stick to my skin and started to bleed a little.
I had abdominalplasty Oct. 31, 2012. There were issues with drainage tubes and pain management! My doctor refused to prescribe me anything more than lortab 10's (which did absolutely nothing for my pain) after going back and forth between her office and home(1 hour drive in each direction) everyday my 1st week home from the hospital! I found out that my scar was not even, I had an abscess, she ignored my drug allergies, and both of my sides are completely different. So heart broken!
Is there a surgical quick fix for suture abcess that has left open wound, spitting stitches and infection 5 weeks out from full tummy tuck? I am packing twice a day with silver, and have another spot that looks like another stitch coming out. There was infection and I have 1 day left on keflex. Can this be fixed so I can go on with my life?
I am six weeks post op and my belly button is seeping dark, smelly fluid. I have a 2 inch opening at the scar that is taking a long time to heal even though I maintain it with clean gauze. Today I went in and told him that I felt that there was a lot of fluid retention. When he checked a large amount of puss was extracted. He sent this away for a culture. My doctor didn't use drains because he used a suture method to prevent fluid build up. I am now worried that this caused an infection.
I had a tummy tuck & breast lift/augmentation after losing a large amount of weight. My tummy tuck line never smoothed and was filled with bumps (suture knots). I've had a few surface, but easily. Recently one got very red & hot & sore so I went to my surgeon. I had an abscess where a stitch was coming out. Five years later. Is that common? What factors contribute to skin/body properly dissolving sutures? Thx
