5 week update

When I look at this photo I can see a huge difference and I’m really happy with it but I’m definitely interested in doing a second round of surgery. I’m meeting Dr Hamza in a few days so I’m going to speak to him about the options/price then. As you can see from the photo, the top of my breast still has a similar shape and I wonder whether lipo of the fat next to the armpit is a good option for me...

One week photo comparisons

As you can see I still have some sticky stuff around my boobs - it hurts to get off! It is still hard if I have been sitting down for a while, when I get up I am really stiff and it is hard to walk for a couple of minutes. I also can only sleep on my back. At the beginning I was using pillows to get a 45 degree angle for my body because it is more comfortable but it is okay just on my back now, it’s just really hard to get up from a lying position - you don’t realise how many muscles you use to do that until you can’t use them anymore!
Regarding diet, I basically found out through research about the concept of anti-angiogenic food, which is a diet that cancer patients sometimes follow as some foods are great at restricting blood vessel growth. For a cancer patient this is great as it restricts blood flow to tumours but for someone who has had breast fat transfer, we want the opposite-lots of blood flow to the new fat so that a lot of it survives. Unfortunately not a lot of research has been done into angiogenic food, just anti-angiogenic, so I just settled for avoiding the anti-a foods where possible. The only scientific paper I could find suggested that milk was angiogenic, as are proteins, and it seemed to suggest that a high protein, high fat diet was good. So I’ve been drinking a couple of glasses of milk a day and making sure I have good sources of protein. I’m a vegetarian but I think some fish is a good source of healthy fat- I’ve been eating a lot of avocado as my fat source. I also take a multivitamin with added iron supplement. None of it is a proven science so I’m just doing what I hope will help and keeping my fingers crossed for fat retention!

Day 3

Today I showered and these photos are before and after the shower. I went into the shower with all of the bandages on and took them off slowly under the water, which was really painful! My boyfriend bought me a chai for the shower because it was hard to stand for a long time and I kept feeling very dizzy. The chair really helped, especially since I was in there for so long trying to get the bandages off. Taking off the garment made me feel like I was going to faint every time but I think I’m quite sensitive to things like that so that might not be the case with most people (I am writing this a week later and I no longer feel like that so it was just towards the beginning). I stupidly didn’t take my measurements before the surgery but on this day I am 90cm around the largest part of my bust and 74cm just underneath my breasts. So at least I can monitor the loss from the first few days! My boobs are really swollen and hard at the moment so I am expecting them to drop a lot but I really hope I don’t lose too much volume, otherwise I will do the operation again.

I cleaned the sports bra and compression garment while I was in the shower and then put them back on immediately afterwards. Lamia said that I should wear them at all times even if they are uncomfortable as it’s important that your breasts don’t move around too much as this can put stress on the new fat cells. It’s also worth mentioning that your bra should not be too constrictive as you don’t want to put pressure on the fat cells and kill them. I bought a light support Nike sports bra in large and then sewed the band so that it was tighter, in order to get the right cup size to band width ratio, but I’m sure there’s an easier way to get a sports bra that fits!
