-I'm sooooooo happy I finally got my lip lift today and I wanted to "pay it forward" and share my experience with y'all to help others in this Real Self community. :)
-First, a little info on me and why I ddi the lip lift now: I'm a 45-year old Asian-American female who's very active. You can see in my before pics that I had a very long philthrum and it's weird because I looked at pics of me in the past decade and it seemed like my philtrum lengthened on a noticeable level only about two years ago.
-My doctor: So after researching lip lifts for a few months, I found my wonderful surgeon, Dr. Sachin S. Parikh in California and I chose him for numerous reasons to include his education, experience, specialization in facial/cranial procedures, associations, reviews and a consult that put me at ease that he knew exactly what he was doing and what I wanted. His office is about 3 hours from where I live in Cali.
-The surgery: I drove three hours to San Jose area this morning and sat down in the chair at 9am and we discussed the procedure details again then he measured me and started the local anesthesia and then we were all done by 11am. I drove all the way back home and I started my meds for pain, swelling and antibiotics. Like others have said, the only real "painful" part of the whole thing (besides the payment! lol) was the prick of the needle when he loaded my face up full of local anesthesia, but honestly, it's the same pain as I had last week at the dentist getting my fillings redone! Like most others, I was a little hesitant at first about doing a surgery with just local anesthesia, but I for real did NOT feel any actual pain during the cutting and sewing. I was more anxious getting my fillings redone at the dentist with loud drills!
-My pics: I've uploaded the before pics from right before I walked into the surgeon's office this morning, then the after pics are about 3 hours after the surgery. You can see I'm SUPER swollen but I was fully expecting to look like a giant duck with Frankenstein stitches.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience; I’ll be following along. My lip lift surgery is 1-15. I’m super excited/nervous. It is so comforting to read others’ stories so again thanks. Your incision looks so clean and precise! Can’t wait to see as your swelling diminishes.

So excited for you! I think you can easily hang at your computer a day after your surgery for a couple hrs maybe here and there , but of course the more you can rest the first three days the less it will swell and bruise. And of course , you don’t want to disturb the stitches I took a lot of arnica and bromelain 2 weeks before the surgery. But alas, I’m still a bruiser.

Oh, I’m glad you brought up arnica. I was going to start it by mouth a few thanks. I’m glad you mentioned arnica. I was going to start it a few days before surgery, but maybe I’ll start taking it now. May I ask what dosage you took it in? You really don’t look very bruised. I can only hope that my scar line will look as good as yours

I took these pics this morning and you can see the swelling is still there but I wasn't surprised. I took two perc last night and my antibiotics and I was fine but then this morning I took my antibiotics and swell-reducing meds and threw up. I think tonight I'll skip perc and just take unisom because the pain today is very minimal (it just feels tight). I slept on a 45 degree wedge pillow last night so night quite sleeping "sitting up" but definitely not my usual side sleeping on a big fluffy pillow. I iced my sutures last night with a bag of frozen peas for like 20-30 minutes). Only ate frozen yogurt using baby spoon. Drank a ton of lukewarm tea through a straw and found it easier drinking straw through side of mouth.

My doc told me to clean the area twice a day with wet qtip, then another qtip with hydrogen peroxide and then another qtip with layer of Stratamed ointment. You can see I had a lot of dried blood this morning which I'm not "forcing" off but I'm still trying to gently chip away at it with the hydrogen peroxide qtip.

P.S. Sorry for all the question marks in the titles of my posts/updates - I realized the Real Self app is not awesome and the coding doesn't take any emojis or emoticons for some reason. And it doesn't let you go back and edit/change the titles.
