Hi all! Coming to you with a review and some updates post-breast augmentation. I thought it would be nice to share my experience with everyone since I used this platform so highly to educate myself about my own surgery.
A little background about myself, I am (now) 25 years old, based out of New Mexico. I am a pretty active individual (petite, athletic build), although I do not workout on a regular basis. My main forms of exercise are hiking in the mountains with my boyfriend and dog and my Peloton Bike! I have been a nurse for over three years and specialize in the ER. I am 5'3' and weigh between 120#-130#, COVID has not been kind... and I wear a 32B in most bras and I would say on the smaller side of the B.
My breast augmentation journey started when I was 15 and barely developed any breast tissue on my own. I always researched breast augmentations, but of course, didn't really consider it a feasible option for myself until after high school into college (I also swore to my mom I would get a breast augmentation someday and she never believed me, jokes on her). I primarily used RealSelf to do my research for the perfect surgeon. Of course, I looked up surgeons in my area and surrounding and didn't find a surgeon that I saw fit for my needs (based on reviews and personal experiences of friends and coworkers), so I started looking out of state (mostly places where friends or family lived just in case something went wrong and I needed to stay longer than anticipated).
My timing is always perfect, and I began reaching out to offices in the middle of COVID, May 2020 and continued to do so until October 2020. I reached out to several offices which included Las Vegas, a few in Phoenix, a couple in Dallas and one in Austin. I ended up setting up virtual consultations with 3 offices. The virtual consult in Austin never happened because the office was so disorganized and they were not clear as to what information and paperwork was needed for the consultation and gave me an ultimatum of submitting the information and pictures I needed (the day before Thanksgiving while I was driving) or they were cancelling my appointment... So cancel they did. One of the surgeons in Phoenix I did really like, but compared to Dr. Obaid, in Dallas (the surgeon I went with) the one thing that stood out (besides personality) was that Dr. Obaid makes a "bloodless" pocket to help healing and reduce the scarring in the breast and the surgeon in AZ was not as meticulous as this.
I will attach some before pictures and discuss more about Dr. Obaid and his team in my next post!

Virtual Consultation
NurseClaire44June 21, 2021
After I decided to go with North Texas Plastic Surgery, the Care Coordinator (Melissa, who is a SAINT) reached out to me and sent me all the paperwork that needed to be completed as well as helped me get set up with the "My Crisalix" App. This is the 3D app that you upload your pictures to and can see how different CCs look on you. It was also explained to me, that this is one of the the most accurate ways to see how your breasts will be post-op as opposed to the sports bra and implant method. Once all the paperwork was handled I scheduled a virtual Zoom consult for November 18, 2020.
During the whole process you will come up with random questions here and there. **I would recommend keeping an email open with all of your questions** I would eventually gather enough questions and send them to Melissa and she was always so pleasant responding and reassuring me of the things that I asked.
On consult day, Tina the MA first called me and then video chatted with me, confirming my medical history and explaining the process to me and asked if I had any further questions. At that time, Dr. Obaid joined the video call and he and I spoke about my wishes and goals for my breast augmentation. He pulled up the Crisalix 3D renderings and we discussed the areas in which I wanted volume.
After the consult, Melissa got a hold of me and asked if I wanted to book surgery, if so it was a $500 surgery day deposit that goes towards the total of your procedure. At that time, I was not ready to commit to a surgery date (I still had a few consults), but in January, I ended up booking April 15, 2021 for my procedure with North Texas Plastic Surgery.
A few things to be aware of when preparing for surgery are the extra costs and supplies you may need (medications, pillows, post-op bras, etc -- I will post about these later as well). The biggest "lifestyle" change for me was I had to stop taking my oral birth control 2 weeks prior to surgery. Oral contraceptives can increase your risk for blood clots, and of course you do not want to go into a surgery at risk for that. A few other thing to note; no alcohol consumption for 2 weeks prior to surgery (also a blood thinner) and no taking NSAIDS (advil/ibuprofen) for a few weeks before surgery, same effects.

Wow, your 3D imaging looks so much better than mine hahahah.

I think the 3D renderings are really helpful, but obviously not 100% accurate. They are distorted and made my areolas appear huge, and compare to my real post-op pictures, I obviously have more cleavage than the 3D gave me. So don't get discouraged, it's jut a tool to help you and your surgeon decide what's best for you :)

Post-op Supplies/Medications
NurseClaire44June 21, 2021
The surgeon prescribed me a while slew of medications which I needed to bring with me on day of surgery:
Accolate -- med used to help prevent capsular contracture
Celebrex -- NSAID, same category as Advil/ibuprofen, but is longer acting
Colace -- stool softener. Anesthesia and narcotic medications can plug you up. I recommend taking one the day before surgery **disclaimer - I am not a doctor, speak to your surgeon
Emend -- anti-nausea medication to take a couple hours before surgery. It is used to prevent nausea as opposed to take away nausea that is already there.
Gabapentin -- pain medication that is used specifically for nerve pain (can a make you feel drowsy and loopy, beware)
Lovenox (since I was traveling) -- blood thinner shot. 1 to take the day I was leaving and 1 dose the following day to prevent blood clots.
Keflex -- antibiotic to prevent post-surgical infection **antibiotics can reduce the effects that hormonal birth control have, i.e. practice safe sex while on antibiotics and talk to your surgeon
Norco -- narcotic pain medication with Tylenol/acetaminophen in it (can make you feel drowsy and loopy)
Valium -- muscle relaxer to easy muscle spasms and contractions
Zofran -- anti-nausea medication
** if you have any questions or concerns about medications please speak with your primary doctor and your surgeon!!!
I did buy some personal supplies for post-op.
-Bio oil to prevent stretch marks and help with scar healing (use later down the line once cleared by surgeon, don't use immediately post-op)
-neck pillow (life saver) You will need to sleep at an incline -- I stacked pillows, and used a pregnancy pillow and a neck pillow. Pregnancy pillow not necessary if you have enough pillow (like 5 extra pillows) to stack.
-Front close bras -- your surgeon will tell you how long to wear your post-op bra that they put you in (based on research, each surgeon is different). Mine was 48 hours mandatory post-op bra, then any supportive sports bra that was wire-free
-ICE PACKS, gel and refillable. I like the small gel because you can pop them in your bra cups, but the refillable are nice to go on top of your breasts.

Thank you so much for such a thorough review and for keeping such great notes to share along the journey. I just read through your whole profile/review and I learned so much that no one has really talked about before or gone into such great detail.
Did Dr. Obaid's office make that medication spreadsheet for you? Or did you do that? Maybe your nursing background gives you a leg up on being so on top of your treatment? Lol I feel like I need to hire you to be my B.A.-guide throughout my journey when I finally go for it.
The spreadsheet was from the office, thank goodness they made it. Being drowsy and out of it made life so much easier for my boyfriend to help with medication administration (nursing background or not, the anesthesia had me jacked up)!
I am more than happy to help you out in any way I can! Comment or direct message me if you have any other questions. Good luck with your journey!! So far, it is well worth it!!!!
