I wanted a breast augmentation following pregnancy...

OwenBA16
WORTH IT$4,970
I wanted a breast augmentation following pregnancy & breastfeeding as I'd lost a lot of volume and felt self-conscious in underwear or a bikini. I did a ton of research before deciding to go ahead and that included speaking with a lot of surgeons/clinics. Staiano Plastic Surgery was my first choice as I'd been following the social media page for a while and everything I had seen looked fantastic. However, the cost of surgery was a little out of my price range so I decided to shop around.
I had a look at the larger, big-name clinics but was immediately put off by the staff as they were very pushy and I didn't like how I wasn't able to meet with the surgeon from the start. I'd also been told a lot about how a number of the surgeons at those clinics were quite stand-offish and rude which sounded awful. Their aftercare seemed very hit & miss too so I decided to go for a private surgeon that was BAAPS registered as I felt this would give me more peace of mind. The first private surgeon I met with was a lovely man and did seem to be very knowledgable but he didn't seem to quite understand what I wanted to achieve. I had to travel quite a way to meet with him and although I paid for an hour's consultation, I wasn't called in until 15 minutes after my appointment time and he seemed to rush me out of the door once the remaining 45 minutes was up. I'd have to travel back for a second consultation if I wanted to go ahead with the procedure as we had run out of time and because appointments were made through the hospital I had quite a long wait to see him again. When I tried to book an appointment the staff at the hospital seemed a little clueless with regards to his diary & commitments and told me that they would try and book me in for the following month but he may not be available so they'll call me and reschedule once they know. I just found this all a little unprofessional and I felt like it could be difficult to get hold of him should I have any queries or questions prior to or after the procedure.
Following all this I felt quite disheartened and knew that I really wanted to go & see Mr. Staiano for a consultation. The slight extra cost was still a concern but waiting a little longer to save up the money and being 100% happy with my surgeon choice was what was most important to me so I decided to do that instead. Luckily, I didn't have to wait though as I was approved for an interest-free credit card which covered the last little bit that I hadn't yet saved so I booked my consultation immediately. From my very first contact with the clinic I was so impressed with the way they ran things. The staff were all wonderful - so helpful and organised and they booked me an appointment for the very next week. The clinic itself is stunning, it really feels more like a hotel and so much nicer than sitting in a hospital waiting room. The receptionists are really warm and chatty but I didn't feel like they were being false or salesy at all - worlds apart from staff at the Mya type clinics. The receptionist, Nicola, said that there would be short wait for my appointment as Jonathan doesn't like to rush any of his patients so his appointments sometimes run over - I was more than happy with that after my experience with the previous surgeon.
As soon as I met Mr. Staiano I knew that I wanted him to perform my BA. He's such a warm, friendly person & made me feel totally at ease. He listened to everything I said and totally understood what I wanted to achieve. The consultation was so so thorough too - he answered every question, let me spend as long as I needed trying on the sizers and went through the different implant types in detail to help me decide what was best. I knew at the consultation that he had a theatre space the following week as I'd asked Nicola when his next available dates were but Jonathan really tried to persuade me not to take that slot as he wanted me to have more time to think about my decision. I just thought that was really quite amazing - he genuinely cares about his patients and would never want you to make a decision too quickly, even if that risks losing a potential sale. You won't get that kind of service at the bigger clinics - in fact it's quite the opposite with incentives and discounts to book late spaces etc.
Due to family commitments I ended up scheduling my surgery for 6 weeks later at Spire Parkway hospital. During that time I was undecided about my final implant size and on numerous occasions Jonathan said that it was absolutely fine for me to postpone if I needed more time. He also sent me lengthy emails answering my (many) questions (I'm a worrier) and was always so kind and helpful - never seemed irritated by my questions at all. I ended up going in for a second (complimentary) consultation to try on the sizers and again he spent so long with me going over everything so that I was 100% sure.
My surgery went brilliantly - the staff at the hospital were brilliant and Jonathan came round to see me before and after surgery. I went for 450cc HP Polyurethane implants (overs) - I wanted a very slightly augmented, full round look & aimed to be around a 32e (from a 32b). I'm now a 32f & I absolutely love them! I was quite asymmetrical due to breastfeeding but due to the large increments in size of the Poly implants, Jonathan advised me that having one larger than the other would only increase size the slightly smaller breast by too much. If I went with standard silicone implants then this wouldn't be an issue as the increments in size were smaller however, I had my heart set on the Polys due to the much lower rates of capsular contracture. I decided that a small amount of asymmetry was worth it to have the poly implants and so I went with those. Jonathan is a miracle worker because somehow, even with using the same sized implants he has evened them up so much. They look amazing & are even better than I ever expected. The size choice was perfect for me and they fit my frame brilliantly. I've seen so many pictures of implants that are too wide or two narrow for the patient and that was a real concern of mine - I needn't have worried though because Jonathan is a total expert & amazing at what he does. Following my surgery I had a phone call the next day from Tish (the practice nurse) who is lovely and they even sent me a surprise M&S fruit basket in the post with a get well note. It's all those little touches that help make the experience miles ahead of anywhere else. It really does feel like you are their only patient and is so comforting when making such a big decision to undergo elective surgery.
I totally understand why Jonathan decided to set up his own clinic - having total control of the whole patient experience makes such a huge difference to the service and that really shows through when you see how many happy patients he has. I've already recommended a friend who just had her surgery this week and she's been so happy with the service too. Jonathan you are amazing - thank you for my incredible results and thank you to the whole team for being so wonderful through the entire process.
If you are considering a breast augmentation or any other surgery then my advice would be to really take your time when choosing who to go with. The big clinics are able to spend a lot of money on advertising/marketing and can seem so tempting when you see the glossy magazine spreads, tv ads and celeb endorsements - I was so tempted at first myself. However, the surgeries are done on such a big scale so it's difficult to feel anything more than just another number. Yes, it cost a little bit extra but for that I got a completely personalised service, surgery performed by an incredible BAAPS registered surgeon who I could easily get in touch with at any time, an excellent aftercare package and a team of staff who bend over backwards to accommodate you. To me it was totally worth it!
Thanks again Staiano Plastic Surgery! I can't thank you all enough!

Hi Annjal, that is a Plie postop bra. We provide a postop bra to all of our breast surgery patients and I have found Plie to be very good. You can find out more details here: https://www.staianoplasticsurgery.co.uk/what-is-the-best-post-surgical-bra/ JJ Staiano
